I don't mean for this to be a troll thread. I'm asking, from a philosophical standpoint, is it possible?

I think the users in here should define whether sinning is "Doing what God has said not to do" or "Doing something against God's will" (And with the former, explain whether or not God's views has changed at all throughout history).

If sin is defined by the word of God then God has technically sinned if it has purposely subjected humanity to suffering. But who are we to say God isn't exempt from sin itself? The answer to this question is quite paradoxical and dependent on how one defines sin and God.

2 通の返信Sin is rebelling against God, so no. Adam and Eve rebelled against God then the rest of humanity rebelled against God by breaking his rules. Jesus tried to tell us that having faith in him would mean we are destined for heaven, and that all disabled and sinners can go to heaven. He made so that with one simple step we have no worries in our lives. God has given us the Ten Commandments to live by and the Hebrews then added their laws and customs in the form of Leviticus, Numbers, and most other parts dictating (stupid) laws. Most of which goes against God. WHy? Well just look at Christianity/Jews today, there are plenty who who twist the Bible their own ways and preach their own views. Humanity never changed, back then it was the same with religious people putting their own views. Back then teachings were inscribed in scrolls and the bible was actually not one book. It was several scrolls combined by Rabbis and Prophets. Some of them are their own views which Jesus rebuked and some are Prophets like Moses and Samuel. So excluding the so called "sins" that are untrue such as wearing two different clothes and using the ones God actually gave us, I can say that God cannot rebel against the rules put to keep peace in humankind.

The Bible states that sin cannot exist in the presence of God, that is why Jesus took our place. God gave man freedom. Man created sin. the only rule that existed was not to eat from a certain tree. That rule was so that we could have peace, not to keep us from something good, it was to keep us from harming ourselves.

ToastyWafflesにより編集済み: 12/21/2013 11:34:45 AMIf God is in fact omnipotent, then he has to be able to sin. If he is good, then that means he will never sin because it is against his will, but this does not negate his capacity to do so.

4 通の返信Would one consider flooding the Earth, killing everyone and everything not on the Ark, as sin?
-
3 通の返信He has. "...shall not kill." Has flooded the earth and as well burned a city to the ground.
-
5 通の返信Yes. It is possible but because the fact that God is perfect means that he will not sin.
-
2 通の返信Sin is to go against God, therefor anything He does is not against God, and thus, not a sin.

13 通の返信Well, by definition to sin means to go against the will of God, so anything God does is automatically not a sin.
