I have a feeling that, even with the wide variety of weapons, people are going to obviously lean towards the strongest ones. I know there is customization and all, but we'll probably being seeing a lot of people using the same couple base weapons only customized to their liking.

Going by Thunderlord's weapon tree I'm guessing the min-max damages will be somewhat normalized but they'll have additional effects that are different but not necessarily better. Piercing vs. splash damage, things like that.

1 返信Lets use Halo Reach's gamemode's as an example to explain how some guns will be more used or more rare than others. In Destiny, certain guns can only be gotten in a certain way. Be in in multi-player or campaign or another gamemode. Using Reach as an example, say I couldn't use a rocket launcher unless I got 1,000,000 points in firefight on heroic and survived 5 waves, or I couldn't use a sniper rifle unless I beat campaign on solo-legendary, or I couldn't use sword unless I got MVP 10 times in team slayer. This is how it will work in Destiny (sort of). If I'm strictly a multi-player guy, just playing Faction Wars, I won't be able to get a multitude of weapons that are in other game modes, like Strikes, Raids or Story. Likewise, only certain guns will be available to those who play a lot of multi-player/faction wars.

2 通の返信There is a solution to overpowered weapons. Play better, and I'm really not trying to be a smart ass. As you are running around in a PvP game assume that everyone on the opposing team is better than you. Assume there is always someone sneaking up on you. Assume that everyone you are battling has a one shot, one kill weapon. And finally see the enemy before they see you.

5 通の返信They use the same weapons generator thing in Destiny as in Borderlands. Apparently there will be millions of guns. I doubt that there will be the "Same couple" of base weapons.

2 通の返信Well from what they showed the weapons it seems that weapons have different paths they can take which means even if you have a base weapon the customizing should make it different.... Besides losing ammo when you die and other things that Bungie hasnt yet told us I'm sure will make it a little more challenging. I doubt they would let us just waltz through the game making it too easy.

I'm guessing that every weapon you come across can be the best weapon, if it is what you like to use. Shotguns in an fps at close range are devastating, but so is a precise shot to the face with a rifle. If you still want to use a shotgun for longer distances, I'm going to assume that the mods and levelling paths will allow you to focus the shots while sacrificing power. I'm not going to say balancing all the weapons is going to be easy, or fun, and I don't envy anyone at bungie tasked with that job. It's also fair to say we can likely expect a nice update a month after release fixing things, if others fps are any indication.

2 通の返信FairlySplendidにより編集済み: 10/27/2013 8:23:50 PMThe answer is Destiny's 3-weapon-slot system and ammo system. - All weapons fall under 3 categories - Weapon slots are category-specific - Ammo Drops, Ammo Rarity - You lose your ammo when you die - Heavy weapons cannot be quick-swapped - Plus, editing load-outs will be cumbersome enough you won't do it in the heat of battle - As a result, weapons have limitations As long as those rules apply, it doesn't really matter what weapons you prefer to run with.

11 通の返信Doubtful if you go up against a sniper on a mile long stretch of open ground and all you have is a shotgun you are the definition of boned, and if you go up against a shotgun with a sniper in a small abandoned factory you are also boned. Weapons have a way of balancing themselves out.
