1. If something can't come from nothing (like Christians say when "disproving" the Big Bang), then where did God come from? Surely God is something not nothing?
2. If evolution does not happen, how did Noah manage to fit the over 2 million (and counting, we only discovered less than approximately 20% of total species) species onto the Ark?
3. How did the entire human population on Earth come from two people when it is virtually genetically impossible for the offspring to survive such intense inbreeding?
4. If evolution does not happen how are the genes of two individuals able to diversify into so many different breeds of humans?
5. If designs need a designer (intelligent design/theistic evolution), who designed God?
6. Do cavemen and other humans who lived prior to the time of Jesus go to heaven?
7. Do Jews and Muslims go to heaven seeing as they worship the same God as Christians?
8. Catholics: are Protestants going to heaven? Protestants: are Catholics going to heaven?
9. Do dead babies who have never heard about Jesus go to heaven or hell?

Its possible that because we have free will we adapted (evolved) into what became two separate species based on where they lived. If you mean by the difference between whites, blacks, and asians then you need to reword your question otherwise you sound like a racist -blam!-
5. Probably heaven You seem to have the thinking that all catholics are backwards thinking and are idiots. Just because we believe in traditions and things that seem unimportant to you doesn't mean we are. I mean there are a lot of catholics that helped the world and the US today that hold high positions and jobs.

1 返信Here's a question in response to a lot of answers people have given: how do you know that Genesis, or any part of the Bible really, is not meant to be taken literally? What parts are to be taken literally and which ones aren't? If Genesis is not to be taken literally, can the same not be said for the entire book? If yes, than how can you follow any kind of structured religion, and how do you know God himself isn't just some abstract metaphor? And if not, why not? What separates Genesis from the rest of the book? It just sounds like an excuse to justify things we know now are impossible. If something in the Bible is proven wrong or senseless, obviously it was just a metaphor!

1. God was always there. At least, according to Christianity. 2. Who says evolution doesn't happen? 3. Perhaps God made more humans after Adam and Eve, and after Adam and Even bred Cain and Able they started breeding with other humans God made? *Shrug* 4. See 2. 5. See 1. 6. ...Maybe? Assuming there is a Heaven, that is. 7. Presumably. 8. Perhaps. 9. Presumably Heaven.

CND AAA Beefにより編集済み: 8/29/2013 3:38:52 AMJust tossing this out there, it was a Catholic priest who came up with the Big Bang. Beforehand, most models assumed a static universe. So I don't see why you are accusing Christians of trying to disprove the Big Bang when it was a Christian who proved it in the first place. And no, Father Lemaitre was not burned at the stake or excommunicated for his theory. The RCC accepts the theory. But then again, the questions listed above are the same ones that typical internet trolls toss out to make themselves feel "intelligent" or self important. Considering that the OP's only other post was to bump his own thread, I'm going with this.

There are various denominations of Christians. Evangelical, baptist, Lutheran, some Catholics, and others. And they all have various interpretations of the Bible. If you really want to know you have to 1. Get a bible 2. Ask questions on what you read in the bible 3. Ask each denomination those questions to come to your own conclusion. And remember faith is one of the number one key principles in Christianity. And God does not think in the way we do and most of what he does is cannot be comprehended; therefore faith is needed. And don't always believe what the first person tells you. Read the Bible and also other books for an accurate interpretation.

1 返信1. That's the point of a supreme deity. That it created everything and was always there. The reason the Big Bang theory needs something to trigger it, is because of the nature of science. You have a theory explaining how everything came into being, but not how it actually happened. 2. I was taught not to take Noah's arc literally. I was taught (from a Catholic schooling) that Noah could have lived in a city/town in the middle of no where that seemed like it was the only place with any life in it. Then, Noah received a sign from God and made a boat for he, his family, and any animals in that village. Therefore, there would be no where near 2 million species. But anyways, evolution is generally accepted among a large portion of Christians. 3. Partial in-breeding, partial evolution. 4. Refer to number 2 5. God was always there. 6. If they lived good lives and accept God after death (IE: meeting Him), then yes. 7. Yes, there is nothing stopping people of different religions from going to Heaven. Heck, the Jewish people are the chosen people in the Catholic religion. 8. Refer to 7 9. Heaven, any one who has not heard about Jesus is given a chance to go to Heaven.

5 通の返信Uncle Putinにより編集済み: 8/29/2013 3:16:11 AM1. Any honest Christian who tries to "disprove" the big bang is delusional. Not only is the big bang consistent with every single interpretation of the Bible, any logical person would agree that the way that solar systems and galaxies are arranged didn't just "happen." So I don't know what to say to you for this one because I don't try to disprove the big bang. 2. Evolution does happen. 3. Although I don't believe in the literal interpretation of Genesis, I will give you an answer to this question. Many Christians will say to you that the genes of Adam and Eve were so pure and so clean of any kind of genetic mishaps that inbreeding was not an issue until much later on. Today, we have genes for all sorts of diseases even if those genes aren't activated, and mating with a relative can trigger the gene to become active in your offspring. In Adam and Eve's days, their genes were supposed to have been so pure that this wasn't a problem. 4. Evolution does happen.... 5. Nobody. God is the ultimate in our universe and any other universe that might exist. What is the Higgs-Boson particle made of? 6. I postulate that God evolved humans until he was satisfied with the result (Adam and Eve). Because of this, the souls of cavemen did not hold the same value as the first "true" humans, so their souls would be treated as any other animal. There is not a heaven or hell for animals, so nothing would happen to them (I'm guessing). 7. Muslims do not worship the same god as Christians. Their god is Allah, and Allah is much different from the Christian god. It may still be a monotheistic religion, but it's not necessarily the same. Even so, Islam came about 600 years after Christianity came, and it's very evident that many ideas were stolen from Christianity to found Islam. Those ideas were just twisted and contorted, so it's kind of hard to say that your worshiping the same god if you changed so many things about him. Jews on the other hand do technically worship the same god because they read from the Old Testament. However, they rejected the teachings and miracles of Christ, as predicted by the Bible.
John 1:10-11 – “But although the world was made through Him, the world didn’t recognize Him when He came. Even in His own land and among His own people, He was not accepted.” John 12:37-38 – “But despite all the miraculous signs He had done, most of the people did not believe in Him. This is exactly what Isaiah the prophet had predicted: ‘Lord, who has believed our message? To whom will the Lord reveal His saving power?’” Matthew 26:3-4 – “At that same time the leading priests and other leaders were meeting at the residence of Caiaphas, the high priest, to discuss how to capture Jesus secretly and put Him to death.”
So the answer to both is a definite no. I don't care if you're offended by this, but that's the way it is. 8. I am Protestant, so I'll answer that. What does not matter is the name you put yourself under. What does matter is your heart towards Christ and the word. There are many (and I mean MANY) Catholics out there who will go to mass every week to simply cleanse their consciousness of any guilt. They use mass as a way to relieve themselves of guilt without even passing a glance at any of the Bible. These people are pure hypocrites in what they do. They follow God with their lips, but their hearts are far from them (Matthew 15:8). Monday through Saturday, they feel that it's okay to sin as much as they want so long as they "repent" and "cleanse" themselves on Sunday. Rinse and repeat. That's what Christianity has boiled down to. That's what Christ's death was for, to simply give them a way out from guilt. (sarcasm) So the answer is: it depends on the person. I think that the way the Catholic church treats Christianity is very dangerous and is conducive to putting many people on a slippery slope. There are a few people here in there that I'm certain will make it to heaven, but sadly I feel that too many of them have become complacent with the routine of mass, and they have become complacent with being lukewarm towards the word. 9. No, they don't go to hell.
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14 NIV

"Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18:3-6 NIV
1. The Big Bang isn't something from nothing. The universe is infinite, no matter how much you compress it, it is still infinitely big, the universe is infinite. Something never did come from nothing. God can't exist. 2. Noah's Ark is a "metaphor". Oh please Christians totally used to believe this at one time. Still at least they acknowledge they're always wrong. Moving on. 3. It's a metaphor (as in they're wrong as per usual). Only creationists still believe in Adam and Eve (they're children committed incest when they grew up! :D) 4. See 3. No idea how genetics or evolutionary biology works. 5. Nobody. Screw logic! 6. No 7. Yes 8. No. No. 9. Hell Welp I think that clears everything Wait only Christians?? SHHHHHIIIII--

As for your question regarding genetic variation I found an answer by thinking about Alexandria's disease. The one where people have purple eyes and hair only grows on their head. Genetic mutations could have brought in variation.

22 通の返信
1. If something can't come from nothing (like Christians say when "disproving" the Big Bang), then where did God come from? Surely God is something not nothing?
We don't disprove the Big Bang theory, we just believe a supreme deity was the cause of it, not nothing at all. And the very definition of God is all knowing all powerful that has and always existed. God has no creator, he just is.
2. If evolution does not happen, how did Noah manage to fit the over 2 million (and counting, we only discovered less than approximately 20% of total species) species onto the Ark?
Most of us know that evolution is fact. But it also does not discredit the possibility of there being a Creator. If anything it's more evidence of intelligent design imo.
3. How did the entire human population on Earth come from two people when it is virtually genetically impossible for the offspring to survive such intense inbreeding?
I personally believe the story of adam and eve is not meant to be as literal as most Christians and atheist alike think. The Bible is full of metaphors and hyperboles, which should not be taken so literally imo.
4. If evolution does not happen how are the genes of two individuals able to diversify into so many different breeds of humans?
Again, most christians don't doubt evolution is a fact.
5. If designs need a designer (intelligent design/theistic evolution), who designed God?
Refer to answer 1.
6. Only read 1 not going to lazy to go any further. If God created everything in our existence or universe do you really think he would be bound by the same laws he created? If he created everything in this universe including the fact that something cant come from nothing does not mean that he is bound by that law. God exists outside of your universe and is not bound by the laws of our universe.

51 通の返信HurtfulTurkeyにより編集済み: 8/28/2013 5:28:20 PMThese are my viewpoints, as an apologist and one who has studied the cultural and literary context of the Old Testament in an academic setting, and may not represent everyone here nor every denomination: 1. If something can't come from nothing (like Christians say when "disproving" the Big Bang), then where did God come from? Surely God is something not nothing? 1. Prime mover concept. The Big Bang is not contradictory to mainstream Christian doctrine because Genesis is not a scientific account of the creation of the universe, it's a system of abstract stories to represent a myth that uneducated peasants certainly couldn't have understood 2. If evolution does not happen, how did Noah manage to fit the over 2 million (and counting, we only discovered less than approximately 20% of total species) species onto the Ark? 2. False presupposition, since mainstream Christianity does not deny evolution (in fact, the last pope said it was the most likely explanation), but creationist "scientists" have calculated that the ark could have fit a staggering number of species, and it's sometimes theorized that the the flood was localized to the Near East. 3. How did the entire human population on Earth come from two people when it is virtually genetically impossible for the offspring to survive such intense inbreeding? 3. Not necessarily, but again, the first two add to this. Humans spread from a localized group of individuals, so the original gene pool would also have been very small. 4. If evolution does not happen how are the genes of two individuals able to diversify into so many different breeds of humans? 4. See 2. 5. If designs need a designer (intelligent design/theistic evolution), who designed God? 5. See 1. 6. Do cavemen and other humans who lived prior to the time of Jesus go to heaven? 6. Yes. 7. Do Jews and Muslims go to heaven seeing as they worship the same God as Christians? 7. Jews don't believe in a heaven the way Christians and Muslims do. And it's a massive fallacy to believe Muslims, Jews, and Christians believe in the same deity. 8. Catholics: are Protestants going to heaven? Protestants: are Catholics going to heaven? 8. The Catholic response is divergent, but generally all followers of Christ would go to heaven. The Protestant response is also divergent, with some believing the Catholic Church is so far from Biblical Christianity that they no longer believe in the Biblical Jesus, but generally Protestants believe that anyone that follows Christ will go to heaven. 9. Do dead babies who have never heard about Jesus go to heaven or hell? 9. Yes, for the same reason as #6.

I always see the bible as somewhat metaphorical in its words For example the book of revelations talks about a future terrorized by a huge red dragon Now I don't believe a red dragon will literally set people on fire, but couldn't the people's republic of china (which is culturally known for both dragons and the symbolism of the color red (communism) terrorize the world. Yes

Not answering the questions directly but... I am catholic and I believe in evolution and I actually love sciences, will major in biology and maybe chemistry too! And also I don't believe that people go to hell for not believing in the same things I do. I am not very religious myself but I do believe in something greater! Anyway, hope this is somewhat good for your thread :p haha
