Germany has tonnes of manufacturing and brewing businesses that are branching out into the United States. Anyone who needs a job and actually wants to earn a decent amount of money would be stupid to not want to learn German and sign up for such businesses.
German economy > the rest of Europe > United States
Thus, Americans should learn German in school instead of Spanish or French.
French is a shit language spoken by arrogant dirty whore pigs in a disgusting and ugly country. Nothing of use comes from the French that you cannot get at a higher quality (and probably cheaper) from Germany.
Spanish is spoken by some of the poorest and least educated people in the world. Do you Americans REALLY want to talk to immigrants that are too ignorant to learn the language you speak before they come to your country?
Also, German is similar enough to English that learning it would, for the most part, be easier than learning French or Spanish.
Oh, and German chicks are hot.

Sup Ladiesにより編集済み: 12/1/2013 6:01:00 PMI agree, but not for the same reasons. English is a West Germanic language that was first spoken in early medieval England. I think we need to learn German because its the language that ours is based off of.
I also think we need to learn Latin and Old Norse, because they also heavily influenced our language.
Currently learning Spanish because it's more practical for me than learning German. I just wanted to say that English has Germanic and Latin roots, so you can't really argue that German is easier to learn based on its similarity to English, because Spanish is very similar to English as well.

Section Ratio Generalにより編集済み: 11/23/2013 10:24:26 PMI've experienced enough German girls during Oktoberfest every single year. German should be part of the curriculum like French and Spanish. Edit: Someone necro'd this one out of the grave.

I don't know about that. Practicality wise Spanish does make sense; we have a large Hispanic population and it continues to grow everyday. If you're talking about the global job market, I would actually say that there are a few languages that are more practical to learn than German. For instance, Mandarin, Japanese, Arabic, Korean and Russian (as well as any of their dialects) are all highly sought after languages for job applicants. This isn't to knock German by any means, mind you, as I'm predominately German. 4th Generation German American represent!

Iberius Huskusにより編集済み: 11/24/2013 12:07:18 AMNein, ich muss Spanisch mehr lernen. Spanisch ist sehr leicht. Leute sprechen mehr Spanisch als Deutcshe. Leute sprechen mehr Spanisch als Englisch. Spanisch ist mehr nützlich. Spanisch Frauen sind mehr attraktiv.
