I'm pretty sure Godzilla traveled by land sometime during that movie. Remember when they first hire the main character to help track and deal with it?

  • He went through Panama first, according to the plot wiki. Read.

Erm... where does it say that? I have the full movie right now and I just hit the scene where he sees the footprints. It's a perfectly smooth transition from that scene to Manhattan.

  • When the man in the boat was attacked by Godzilla, that marked the "10 years later" bit. Which you would have seen, had you read the summarized plot.

Erm, dude. I have all 28 movies practically memorized. There's a reason why my name is Gojira on here. When he attacks the man in the boat? You mean the Japanese fishing boat at the beginning of the movie? Decades before the Panama/Jamaica incident that we're talking about?

No, that is not the sequence of events.
Following a nuclear test in French Polynesia, a lizard's nest is destroyed by the fallout of the explosive blast of an atomic bomb that was being tested. Strangely, the radiation of the blast causes a lone egg to become mutated and its occupant to develop atavistic traits of ancestral reptilian species. Decades later, a Japanese fishing vessel is suddenly attacked by a mysterious and enormous sea creature in the South Pacific ocean; only one seaman, an old cook, survives. Traumatized, he is questioned by a mysterious Frenchman in a hospital regarding what he saw, to which he replies, "Gojira."
Which also means this Godzilla never emerged from Japan, another issue with your post.

How is it not the sequence of events? It happened before the Panama analysis. If you keep reading...
Decades later, a Japanese fishing vessel is suddenly attacked by a mysterious and enormous sea creature in the South Pacific ocean; only one seaman, an old cook, survives. Traumatized, he is questioned by a mysterious Frenchman in a hospital regarding what he saw, to which he replies, "Gojira". Dr. Niko Tatopoulos (Matthew Broderick), an NRC scientist, is in the Chernobyl exclusion zone in Ukraine researching the effects of radiation on wildlife, but is suddenly interrupted by the arrival of an official from the U.S. State Department. He is sent to Panama and Jamaica, escorted by the military, to observe a trail of wreckage across land leading to the recovered Japanese fishing trawler with massive claw marks on it.

Which also means this Godzilla never emerged from Japan,
Okay, I concede that (though it's still utter bullsh1t, Godzilla always originates in Japan... damn Roland Emmerich), but it's still from the East. It makes sense that it took decades it to be found. It doesn't make sense that a few weeks (or even months) after the Panama investigation it just shows up at Manhattan. And, erm... again... just to lay eggs?

If you want to argue the timing isn't the most sensible or implausible, go for it. But you were originally arguing that it didn't make any sense from a geographic standpoint. These are two different arguments. And by sequence of events I meant that the "decades later" moment came before the boat incident, not after.
If you want to argue the timing isn't the most sensible or implausible, go for it.
That's what we were arguing right? Sure it was a tangent, but it was the premise of my argument at that point.
Erm... where does it say that? I have the full movie right now and I just hit the scene where he sees the footprints. It's a perfectly smooth transition from that scene to Manhattan.
This is what I said, to which you replied with
When the man in the boat was attacked by Godzilla, that marked the "10 years later" bit.
Except there wasn't a "10 years later" between those two events. Let me clear this up. I'm saying that it's simply impossible for Godzilla to go from that place in Panama/Jamaica and then emerge in Manhattan a few weeks later.
And by sequence of events I meant that the "decades later" moment came before the boat incident, not after.
... which is irrelevant?
These are two different arguments.
How? It's physically impossible for him to go from an area in the west to an area in the east in that short an amount of time. That's the argument.
