And I hated it. Absolutely one of, cross that, the worst experience i've had in my life.
My school had this motto - "Men for Others"
That is bullshit.
The video I've embedded above is of a snob from the very same school I attended. It captures the exact feel/vibe you get from the students.
Self-absorbed pricks that think themselves above others with their BMWs that mommy and daddy gifted them at the age of 16.
They(the staff) try to instill Christian values in you, but fail. Hardcore. My Sophomore year Theology teacher - she was a bitch. The q bitch. Thought herself above the students for memorizing scripture. Scolded you and scrutinized you for being an atheist. Claimed you were apathetic because you didn't give a shit about silly stories passed down and worshipped over the course of two millennia.
I walked out of that place an atheist, and i've never looked back. No regrets whatsoever. Don't waste your money and fund such establishments at any point. My parents ended up sacrificing ~$100,000 over the course of seven years(Middle-High). A school that racked in millions upon millions of bucks annually, but still couldn't afford to do some research on decent educators that could at least live up to the school motto and message. They even charged us for standard black & white printing!
There's much more to all of this, and it would take far too long to detail all of it, but I leave you with the video above. Do you want your child to attend a school with such an environment? I won't speak for everyone though - I'm unique. I'm quite introverted, never thrived socially. Such a school is not deal for people like myself.
The school didn't cut it. Degraded by social skills by a huge margin. I struggle to mingle with girls. I practically had no friends. It's a tough environment. So, I leave you with this - think it through. If the choice and idea dawns upon you to send your child to a similar environment - someday - think twice.
I highly recommend public schools with magnet programs. Do not buy into the prestigious Christian schools. All I got out of it was problems. I feel like I didn't have a proper high school experience because my parents chose for me and decided to send me to such a school in attempt to boosten their ego.
My child goes to *Insert Private School*!
Don't be the guy. Or girl.
Choose wisely. Talk it out with your child, whenever that day may come. This is a huge part of their life, and I'm sure any of you high school alumni can agree. Not to mention, it's a financial burden. You could be spending money on better things.
Don't rob your child of their childhood.
Please.

4 通の返信Went to a private catholic school for two years. Made good friends there, but a lot of the education was heavily screened out and replaced with Catholic/Christian scripture reading. Hell, the science class in there mixed creationism and intelligent design with biology. Then I transferred to a public school.

I went to the same exact time of school as you, with the same motto, men for others. The magis. And dude you are so so so sooo wrong. Those 4 years happened to be the best 4 years of my life. It was like a brotherhood, no girls, no problems. I guarantee your school had dances with other sister schools, so your argument for not being able to interact with girls is weak. Was your school Jesuit? Cause mine was. There were constant and multiple opportunities to help out in our community. Students like myself took advantage of this. I fail to see how one act of unsportsmanlike conduct makes them not "men for others". What I noticed during my 4 years is that everyone hated us. Every single school, every kid who didn't go to our school hated on us. But that wasn't a problem considering our school dominated most sports, so that's where we would get back at them. I'm extremely baffled by how you came out of a school like mine with that mindset. Maybe if you got yourself involved in the community for once you could learn to appreciate it. Your whole post was wrong. I encourage everyone to send their kids to one of these schools. I know for a fact I'm more prepared for college than most kids in my state. The academics, athletics, and brotherhood in my school combine to form one of the best experiences for a student ever. Open your eyes op. You had them closed during your whole school career.
