Consider this.
A massive alien construct has just hovered over the city. It has now fired a beam that is manipulating gravity and has most probably killed everyone in the immediate vicinity.
Hmmmm. What should my course of action be?
I don't know about you guys, but if I was a regular human in those streets, I would sprint the f*ck away from the city as soon as possible.
The final Superman vs. Zod fight sequences take place a while after the whole world engine thing.
Given the amount of time between the world engine and Supes/Zod fight, do you seriously believe there will be people left in those buildings? In my honest opinion, it would make a hell of a lot of logical sense to believe the people have already gotten the hell out of the area. The few people who didn't are either already killed by the world engine, or stayed behind like Perry to help friends disabled by the world engine's destruction.
Seriously, did we need a single file line showing everyone in Metropolis leaving to show that the Supes/Zod fight wasn't killing the entire population of Metropolis?
Also, doesn't Supes have X-Ray vision? You'd think he'd be able to see whether or not he's about to kill someone... [NVM DEBUNKED BY SCOTTUS]
Maybe there's something I'm missing. Am I missing anything? Is this going to be another one of those classic Goyer/Nolan moments where they assumed they didn't have to explain something because they thought the audience would figure it out? And now that they didn't are they going to be regarded as "plot holes" a la TDKR?
tl;dr:
During the final Supes/Zod fights in Man of Steel it can be assumed that most people have evac'd from the buildings a while ago due to the World Engine, or died a while ago (again, due to the World Engine).
I get that a lot of death and destruction was caused by Zod and the World Engine. I get that the scenes were just supposed to look cool. But it's still annoying. What I'd really like to see is for them to use Superman's wanton destruction as a catalyst for Lex Luther's campaign against Superman in the next movie.

1 返信Cultmeisterにより編集済み: 6/25/2013 11:00:51 PMi like how the World Engine did practically nothing. i mean after being on for a good few hours, only half of the surrounding city was levelled. i expected a lot more destruction considering all those shockwaves and how big the thing was in the first place.

1 返信Because in the Avengers only one building fell down and people can't handle anything more than one building.

4 通の返信I'm not denying that people died. Superman would have to be omnipresent to have prevented that. However, it's pretty much highlighted in the first TV Spots and trailers that myriads of people were evacuated during the first minutes of The World Maker. E.g. The Perry White scene showing him sprinting away from explosions in the backdrop. So yes, there were casualties. Is it in the multitudes? Probably not.

28 通の返信We already saw countless people getting killed in every destruction scene both directly and implied. And we also saw everyone running away from the area of hostility. Body count probably somewhere in the tens of thousands for the whole ordeal all things considered. Not bad for your first day on the job.

8 通の返信The entire city wasn't evacuated after 9/11 bro. Millions probably died in the fight between Superman and Zod. If the city was evacuated, where did that family come from that Zod was going to laser? Millions died broheim. Live with it.
