Well Flood, I finally watched it today. As most of you should know, I was hotly anticipating this movie. After hearing all the mixed comments about it, I decided to go in with a blank slate when it comes to expectations and only knowledge of other people's viewpoints. I'm very happy to say I was pleasantly surprised, and that I disagree with the critic consensus. I'll have a full review up soon, but right now I'm just too damn tired to type it all up. Long story short, fantastic movie ruined in many places by the sh1ttiest pacing I have ever had the displeasure of going through. I'd give it an 8.8/10. Probably my third favorite CBM ever.
But putting that aside, what were all of your favorite moments of the film?
In terms of story, mine have to be:
-Scene where Jor-El lets Kal go. Man, I wanted to kill Zod right there. Really tugged on my heartstrings there.
-Clark getting the suit. Jor-El's dialogue in particular sold this scene for me. "Hope. That's what this symbol means."
-Jonathan's death. Yeah, yeah it's controversial, but personally I loved it. Clark losing so much because he decided to keep himself a secret. Great stuff.
-"You can save her. You can save all of them." Chills everywhere.
-Final scene with Zod necksnap. Probably the most controversial part of the film. People are saying it's disrespectful of Superman's character. I'm saying it's a great thematic culmination. The entire movie's theme of choice summed up in one scene.
-Ending in Daily Planet. :D
In terms of action, mine have to be:
-Flight scene. Contagious smile.
-"YOU THINK YOU CAN THREATEN MY MOTHER?"
-Faora beating up Supes
-Superman mustering the power to destroy the world engine (I swear they CG'd Chris Reeve's face in that scene). Every hair on my body stood up when he clenched his fist. And then you had the "RUAAAAAAGH" part in there... awesome.
-Final fight between Supes and Zod. Holy. Sh1t. I was wondering how they would top the last forty minutes of pure action (which would have been much better had Goyer and Snyder actually learned to pace things out properly). I sure as hell didn't see that aerial battle coming. Breathtaking. This is probably my favorite scene in the entire movie. It's amazing from an action perspective and has the neck snap scene at the end.
Random bada$$ moments:
-Jor-El in general (he dies three times throughout the movie. Once in the beginning. Second time aboard the ship when his AI body is killed. Thrice when Zod takes control of the ship).
-The truck scene (lmao, don't f*ck with Clark)
-Supes getting strength back from Jor-El's atmosphere alterations and snapping his restraints
-World Engine scene again

So guys, what were your favorite scenes from Man of Steel? If you didn't like any scenes in the movie, feel free to post why. Though just saying, don't let poor pacing cloud your vision of the story underneath.

5 通の返信My entire theater gasped at the neck snapping. It was a very well done scene, especially with Superman's reaction afterwards. I didn't like the whole Codex MacGuffin though. Why is the genetic destiny of Krypton embodied in an ancient skull? And why isn't there better security around that skull?

3 通の返信Hey, if the Kryptonian atmosphere can harm him, then how can he breathe in space so easily? Well, not breathe, but survive.

8 通の返信-Superman mustering the power to destroy the world engine (I swear they CG'd Chris Reeve's face in that scene). They did. Right before the shot ends it changes to Reeves. There's also a man in the background on one shot who wears Reeves' Clark Kent suit and hat and glasses and briefcase. Catch all the DC references?

1 返信Liked the movie a lot. I liked how Zod and Supes flew into space and wrecked the satellite in the middle of their fight at the end.

10 通の返信The scene that put a grin on my face is when Supes supersonically tackles Zod for 10 miles. Also, the Coup on Krypton was some of the most amazing Sci-Fi movie action I've ever seen. Breathtaking.

2 通の返信Oh holy crap how could I forget to praise the soundtrack Favorite movie soundtrack of all time (though I still think John Williams and James Newton Howard are the best all round composers).

3 通の返信I would have to give the movie a 9/10. My second favorite comic book movie. My five favorite parts of the whole movie in no particular order would have the be: - the whole sci-fi aspect at the beginning with krypton and how everything was just falling apart, the war going on, and eventually the destruction of Krypton - Clark's journey to becoming Superman combined with the struggles of his past - the whole Smallville fight was just amazing to me and showed off just how frightening they could be to regular people up close and personal - how they went the extra mile and actually had Superman kill Zod. There really was no other way. It's not like they had a way to detain him at the time. - how they actually involved the destruction and obvious casualties makes it seem a lot more realistic and actually adds a sense of danger and that Superman is actually needed. It also sets up an argument for the sequel that Superman caused it all and could result in Lex stepping into the light and maybe even a cameo or something more for Bruce Wayne and others.

12 通の返信Finally you joined the rest of us in the sun. Yes I agree I'd give it an 8.5/10. It was great. If the zod and faora fight scenes were that good just imagine a fight scene with doomsday with supes dying. Or a fight with darkseid. I loved the character development clark had during the movie. It was a good choice not continuing with clark growing up after kal el's ship landed on earth. They would go back to times in clark's childhood that had relevance to the plot and how supes came to be who he is. The best flashback was the one where clark wears that red towel or blanket like a cape and it flows in the wind as he makes a heroic pose with pa kent looking at him with pride and awe. Also goddamn faora was fine. Would kneel and submit to anytime. -blam!- it I'd be on all fours, is that good enough?

HurtfulTurkeyにより編集済み: 6/22/2013 3:17:00 PMAnything with Jor El. I loved the way MoS fleshed him out much more than any other Supes movie has. I'd love to see him return as a recurring force of guidance in his new fortress of solitude (which I'm assuming will be the crashed ship).

The activation of the World Engine was intimidating and entertaining. Seeing General Zod's coup in action was great too, seeing the warships and fighters firing upon each other as the main theme kicks in while Jor-El looks on.

1 返信The part where the US military hands over superman to Faora, I liked the contrast between the alien ship and all the tanks and helicopters, and the fact that despite having superior numbers all the soldiers were scared The first battle between superman and Faora in Kansas was awesome And of course the final battle
