I surprisingly knew of most of these.
What get's to me is how fickle they treated executions. Anything you did which was deemed slightly wrong, if you did anything at all, was met with one of these. It's absolutely horrible, and I couldn't imagine going through any of these. It's times like these I'm scared of reincarnation, and what I may have gone through in past lives if it did exist.
But seriously, why did I watch all of that.
Again, because it was awesome. And while i'll admit that executions were used a little too often as punishment in the past, I feel that it should still be done in some cases. Maybe not in these more horrific manners, but I think you know what i'm getting at.
Although, I do miss the guillotine...
Some cases where the person is undoubtedly guilty and show absolutely no remorse I can see why people would want these back. If someone close to me fell victim to one of those people I'm sure I'd want the worst possible punishment for them, a quick death does seem too simple.
This can easily become a discussion about morality though. Would this help at all for those serious crimes to go down? I doubt it. If someone's that evil I don't think anything could scare them straight. The idea of anyone having to go through these is incredibly disturbing as well, and I don't think I could will it on anyone out of pure fear of having to go through it myself.
I don't know, a lot of these are horrific enough to turn quite a few people away. Even if you don't care about dying, you'd still be put off by the painful and disturbing methods by which you could go. And as for that fear...well, while of course I wouldn't want a fair amount of these done to me, I don't worry about hypothetical situations such as that since I most likely wouldn't be put in them. That in mind, I have no fear of letting the people that I think deserve it go through those horrors.
