If you are over 30 you are a Gen Xer anybody between 13-30 is Gen Y and anybody who is over 60/70 is a boomer.
Now it's common knowledge that being the bigger demographic Baby boomers dictated how things happened from the work place to government.
Gen X came along and wanted change but the Boomers put them down and forced them to do what the boomers did simply because Gen X was 3x smaller than the boomers.
Now Gen Y has appeared and are roughly equal in numbers to the boomers and are starting to dictate their terms to the boomer bosses on how they want to work or how things should be run/done in all area's of life.
Now how does it be to be a Gen Xer to see this younger generation clash with the older generation since you are stuck in the middle and will probably end up changing how you do things yourselves in response?
Are you happy younger workers are making the work place a more casual and relaxed place to work? Do you find the younger workers a pain in the backside and side with the older generation?

1 返信We raised you. Keep that in mind... Also, we will be the ones deciding which home to put the Boomers in, when they get to the diaper age...

1 返信Boomers are still in positions of authority in most businesses. Thus, you don't see many Gen Y individuals getting away with all this "casual and relaxed" nonsense. Only in fields where young people can be in upper management - say, technology - is there really a casual/relaxed workplace. Which I think personally, even as a Gen Y, is a house of cards waiting to fall.

They either do the job they were hired to do, or they don't last very long. There seems to be a mindset among younger workers that they can goof around with their cellphones and such during work hours, but that gets stopped if observed. They themselves have no direct impact on whether the office is more relaxed or not. It isn't up to them how the manner doing business or mood is. The main thing younger people bring to the table is their knowledge of the computer that my age group never really had. They make some of our processes easier with what they know in using things like Excel, that others of us use, but never had any formal training in.
Do you find the younger workers a pain in the backside and side with the older generation?
Anyone can be a problem to work with despite age. Young can be as good as seasoned employees if they put the effort into doing their best. If they are lazy, unmotivated, or simply just don't get it they are dismissed. I am in the middle of the age groups in my WorkPLace. We have a few in their 70's still here everyday. Quite honestly, they are the ones that can be the most troublesome.

5 通の返信Yer categories are WAY OFF. I'm 50. A baby boomer is a person who was born during the demographic post-World War II baby boom between the years 1946 and 1964, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
