From my personal analysis, I'm guessing that the game will play out similarly as Borderlands.
The question is, would you want that?
I wouldn't, since I'm not into casual games that don't offer a challenge or competition.

Most people voted no because they didn't fully understand the question.... Destiny will be like Borderlass in the "shoot n loot" aspect and the role playing aspect of upgrading abilities. Destiny will be compiled of every good game that has ever been made. Whether it be the shooting style of CoD, the play style of Borderlands, or the creators of Halo. So destiny can be compared to just about any game that has a FPS aspect, an RPG aspect, or aspects of an MMO. ( even tho it's not an MMO)

1 返信I think most people who answered "no" only put that because "Destiny is it's own wonderful amazing game that is like no game ever ever". I personally think Destiny will be VERY similar to Borderlands in a few aspects that make borderlands what it is, the differences will come in what makes DESTINY what IT is. I can see the game being very "shoot n' loot" focused also it has recharging powers too however I think Destiny will have a MUCH richer story that feels a lot more personal rather than one where you feel crammed into a role like Borderlands 2. I think people on Bungie forums will always say that no game will be like a Bungie game but that just isn't the case. Also, if Destiny isn't at least slightly similar to Borderlands then I'm not even sure what I'm so hyped about buying, so far that's the game it seems most similar to, which might not be a bad thing. Sorry for the long message!

3 通の返信I voted no because I don't want to play Borderlands, I wanna play Destiny, but if Destiny were to borrow the good thigs from Borderlands and add a unique twist to it that would be good.

The question that Bungie has to ask themselves is what would the gamers want and what they need. Look what I'm saying is that I choose neither of them if Bungie is gonna make a breakthrough they have to start something original. I heard alot about how the guns have names for example one of the guns we have heard about is called " Very Good Advice " and the looting, but what I like about the looting system that Bungie did different than borderlands is that everyone gets there own personal loot so no trolls can steal your loot. And the class systems aren't really like Borderlands, but I'm sure somebody will correct me. I know this is a long comment, but there is is just so much to say. And like I said somebody out there is gonna correct me.

1 返信There are two main ways in which I hope Destiny is different from BL 1&2. A) BL is far too easy regardless of difficulty setting. It is a very good example how player skill + leveled items + character skills can combine to easy mode a game. Anyone who can consistently hit a headshot can walk through the land unafraid. I know Destiny will have to cater to casual gamers, but I hope there are at least some areas and quest lines (maybe not in main story areas) that are incredibly challenging in not a cheap way. B) The frequency of loot drops and quest availability is far too high for what I want Destiny to be. Borderlands is proud of its high item count, but I'd rather Destiny have a very low drop rate so that you're not constantly getting items with just 1 or 2 specs higher. It would be very frustrating if every time you get a level or two into upgrading an item something better drops. It would cause people to hold off leveling anything until the end game. Also I feel quests should be a matter of quality over quantity. Borderlands has some fun quests, but most are your typical Kill Y/collect X/ deliver Z. I hope Destiny has fewer longer quests. When you're turning in 10 quests every half hour in BL they start to feel like a chore. It is even worse in BL2; I'm typically a completionist, but I left half of the quests open in BL2 because there was just too many too repetitive quests and by the time I'd get to the next set they'd be grayed out and pointless. TL;DR - Destiny should focus on a lower item drop rate with better items and should have fewer, longer, more difficult, less generic quests.

7 通の返信Birdmanにより編集済み: 6/26/2013 3:15:39 AM.. Edit: Guess I should explain: Who the hell cares? Do you call every platformer a Super Mario Bros. clone? Do you call every Strategy game a Warcraft clone? Do you call every RPG a Dungeons and Dragons clone?! You want to know what separates games from each other? Story. A damn, good, story. This is usually followed up by unique gameplay mechanics that are unique to that game. A single special power unused by other games in the same genre counts as the single separation necessary to say that the game is NOT the other game. So what if it seems like looting and shooting are similar between Borderlands and Destiny? Does Borderlands have armor you can customize to make stronger? Let me answer that for you with Picard ^... Does Destiny have cell-shaded graphics? Captain Picard, if you please ^... Does Borderlands allow player to randomly drop in more than 3 other people into your world? Does Destiny use the prospect of looting or revenge for its story? Well, I don't know, but I like how Patrick Stewart says "no" so ^... You see? Already there are vast differences. So don't go around making it like Bungie is just making this a Borderlands clone, because the only thing similar is that it is a shooter where guns are constantly changing.

5 通の返信I plan to play Destiny for its Halo-ness, and its Bungie-ness. If it turns out like Borderlands, I suppose I'll accept it, but what I really want is a sequel to Reach, and Halo 4 just didn't do it for me.

I hate to do this, but people comparing Borderlands to Destiny is like comparing Call of Duty to Halo. Yes they are both FPS's, and yes they both are very competitive multiplayer based. Hell, they even both have a survival mode incorporated into them with Firefight, and Zombies. When you really think about it though, despite people whining that Halo 4 stole load outs from Call of Duty... the games are very different. People will argue for countless hours about how each game is different and better. The same can be said about Destiny. I personally enjoy playing Borderlands (I just started playing). Yes the co-op is similar, and yes their is loot... but really? Destiny is vastly different from Borderlands. Many people replying on here agree, so be sure to listen to what they have to say. Imagine Destiny not having co-op or loot. Doesn't sound very fun does it?

1 返信I must have missed something because I played a crap ton of BL and Bl2 and don't really see that much similarities..Yes you can shot things and play with your friends that's the only thing I saw. Yes I am aware of collecting loot, but the demo was nothing like BL which drops loot all over the place I saw one gun drop during the 12 min demo of Destiny..Plus collecting loot isn't anything new.. I hate to compare games but Destiny had alot more in common to Defiance than BL..

1 返信To be honest it already is like borderlands witch I like to play but Destiny is going to way way way better than borderlands. It is similar because it is Freeroam and there is random loot you can find. But Destiny is way better

1 返信I think that the game should be like Destiny ;) But seriously, Bungie is a good enough studio to make their own game without having to copy anyone else's design.
-
4 通の返信I see your concern, but I think the only similarity to borderlands will be that it is cooperatively based and there's an immense level of customization. As far as being a clone goes, you're very off, it's as much a clone of call of duty, halo, Star Wars kotor, Star Wars battlefront, WoW, fallout 3, skyrim, and so on and so forth as it will be borderlands. My point being, many lines of similarities can be drawn to tons of different games with plenty of different aspects of destiny, but none so much that destiny can be called a clone of any game by any measure.

I honestly don't like borderlands. But that has more to do with the how the quests are and how the level scaling works. Nothing wrong with comparing the loot and co-op bits from borderlands to Destiny but it looks like Destiny is already handling those two things leaps and bounds beyond how Borderlands handles them.

2 通の返信I don't see how people think it looks like borderlands. But I wouldn't like it to be like borderlands I want it to be more serious.

7 通の返信Casual with no challenge? Have you played Borderlands? Destiny is already shaping to be like Borderlands in its core setup. Whats the problem? Its a open world RPGFPS with skills and an expansive loot system. Borderlands is fun with friends. Destiny already is like a Borderlands with a star wars/halo kind of feel with no party restrictions and mmo open world. How is that possibly bad?

26 通の返信Unique one of a kind first person shooter, you don't design a game like that after another game, if it is anything like Boarderlands besides the FPS aspect... Don't get me wrong I loved Boarderlands 2 it was an awesome game and I play it every now and again... But to design Destiny after Boarderlands would be an insult not only to what Bungie is trying to do but it would be an insult to 2K Games...
