Good, music, art, poetry, soul-filled, useful, relevant to everyday life, and enjoyable.
The only thing listed that is opinion is 'enjoyable'
Everything else is fact.

Mainstream rap, that's true. I've already heard a few rap songs that are pretty meaningful, since the raps are heavily influenced over rights and events. Example: This might be considered mainstream, but, TI's Dead and Gone was pretty meaningful. It was enjoyable, and it sent a very strong message of how to avoid gangs, where TI explicitly stated his gang life and how he got out of it, along with the consequences of his actions. I'm not a fan of rap, but if there is a rap that has a deep meaning to it, then I'd listen to it.

I've got nothing against rap, just the pop-rap following and some of the musicians who are terrible people and arguably don't make good music in the first place. Nothing against the genre itself or most of the music.

Yeah, rap is not a genre I'm into. I don't want a hear about popping a cap in someone's ass or taking drugs and things about the hood life. Doesn't fit in with Montana at all. When I look up I don't see ghettos and skyscrapers, I see wide open blue skies.

3 通の返信One could argue that rap (r&b, hip hop, etc) is the epitome of music. Early forms of music were constructed to tell stories of one's exploits or as a way to court women or request to be blessed with riches or fertility. Rap is the most straightforward of all music genres in that regard.

12 通の返信LOL @ pissed off white kids when rap becomes more than just ghetto music and bleeds into the mainstream. OT: Most of Macklemore's songs' music is expertly made by the talented Ryan Lewis and the lyrics conveyed by Macklemore himself are usually very deep and meaningful. He discusses consumerism (Wings), gay rights (Same Love), drug addiction (Otherside), and achieving your dreams, as corny as it sounds (White Walls). And yet it's none of the above to you because it's rap. Grow up.
