I really don't know how many people this peeves but I think it is pretty much the stupidest idea I think I have ever heard. Like I live in a rural area and during a storm my internet connection does get all weird going off and on. Sometimes just out of the blue we won't have internet for like a day or two. Also what if I want to hook up my Xbox in the back of the car during a really really REALLY long trip? Also that actually messes with peoples jobs as well! For example there is a game commentator called TheRadBrad, some of you know him some of you don't I remember when he started off he either had the worst internet ever or no internet so to upload a video he had to drive 30 min to get it uploaded. If the Xbox was always on back then he would have never even had a channel. So I could go on and on and on but I think I'll stop there. What is everyone else's thoughts on this?

You missed a point or two in your OP though, and thats a marketing standpoint. Imagine you are pitching this idea, and you come up with a list of positives from this feature, namely being able to update things more regularly. However from what I have come to understand roughly 40% of Americans(note I say Americans because I lack the data of other countries) do not have access to high speed internet. That means you are excluding nearly 40% of the American population from even thinking about buying your product. As you mentioned, some people live in rural areas where they have limited, to no internet access. Doing marketing work myself, I dont understand how that kind of a business model can even be thought about. Im totally baffled as to who actually thinks this is a good idea. Of course these are just rumors, so for all we know this isnt really happening, and someone within microsoft just got mouthy about floating ideas.

The connection is terrible during storms, but even when the sky is clear outside the internet will disconnect for no apparent reason. There's no way I'd be able to stay connected all the time.

Also, here's an update on the situation if anyone is curious. Basically Microsoft is saying he isn't an official spokesperson for Microsoft and they're not willing to comment at this time. No denial. Leading up to E3 is going to be interesting this year.

10 通の返信So is Destiny. But you know, since Bungie's making it and they're the embodiment of justice itself, they're excused.

2 通の返信All just rumors. If it's true then PS4 will crush the Xbox. I really don't want that to happen. :(

I'm 50/50 on this because I just don't see how this will work for everyone. It feels like Microsoft is going to alienate gamers who cannot afford a stable internet connection. For me personally I really don't mind. All I play on my 360 are multiplayer games. If I'm not signed onto Xbox Live I don't play Xbox.

I wouldnt say it is a huge problem as you described but I still dont like how they are using it as a way to control their digital media. I dont support it on PC and I wouldnt support it especially with consoles.

1 返信Honestly, this would be even worse than taking away used games. A lot of consumers have minimal control over their internet connection. When going over to a friend's house and bringing my Xbox, I rarely set up an internet connection... it's just another hassle on top of plugging in the cables and everything. A single game requiring an always-online connection? That, you might be able to get away with. But an entire platform? Microsoft is shooting their own foot here.
