Melee attacks in Destiny
What do you think they're going to be like? Like Halo where you punch with your gun or like every other FPS where you use a knife? Do you even think it's going to have a melee button? Maybe instead of a melee button we'll have melee weapons? What do you think?

6 通の返信I really hope there is no melee weapons. How annoying would it be that the sword jerk keeps getting in the way of your shots? (perfect example is being a sniper in borderlands and the punk with the shot gun is ALWAYS standing in the way) Plus, this is the future...wouldn't swords be outdated and silly by now?

How about all of them? Have a knife equipped? That is the melee button! Have a gun with a spear at the end? There is the melee button. Found an ancient magic space sword? Take that out and start choppin' them heads open! But another question to add is how about dual wielding? If you have a pistol and a sword should you be able to shoot and slice your way through a legion of baddies ?

third titan on the right with the yellow white color scheme. it looks like its holding an axe. due to the bloodshot on the axes head. you'll be able to see it when the picture is enlarged. hope there's a range of melee weapons in the game.

I'd like to be able to actually use a gun as a club rather than the awkward sideways thrust melee that was in Halo. For example, the gun in the postcard of the Exo would be perfect for a one-handed club attack at close range. This should, of course, damage the gun to some extent (which would be repaired for some fee somewhere).

I think my preferred choice would be for melee weapons to be an equippable, upgradeable, category of SUB-weapon. I do think, largely for logic's sake, the game should focus on being a shooter, but at the same time for the sake of the RPG elements and personal customization I would like to get better combat knives or bayonets or whatever as I improve my character. In the end it would be great to have a 2000 year old alien space knife, but I'm still going to use my handcannon 90% of the time. That said, it would be fun just on the "I want to do everything" level to be able to pull into 3rd person as someone suggested and have epic knife fights or something. I do not really want swords or hammers for example, I think it would detract a bit from the vision that they seem to be going for.

2 通の返信I definitely feel like assassinations should stay, or at least some variation on epic finishers from a 3rd person view. They reward you by getting to see your character in combat from 3rd person, and while they're being especially badass, too. The case of L4D2, (Left 4 Dead 2), is proof that melee weapons CAN be done right from first person, but in my opinion first person melee combat should just stick to rifle butting. That does, however, leave open another option that I would LOVE to see; Melee weapons that make you switch to 3rd person when you use them. BLAM! Problems with visibility and camera movement caused by first person melee combat? Solved.

1 返信I can't imagine this game having too many melee weapons. It would be like taking a knife to a gun fight. I mean, by all means, if you want to charge at me with a knife/sword/hammer or whatever, I will gladly shoot you down. I just don't see the fun in that.

11 通の返信I'd rather not have melee primary weapons. It doesn't really fit the time period they are going for in the game. I'd definitely like a secondary melee attack though, using a knife, sword, or any melee weapon.

8 通の返信Since Destiny is a first person game, I don't have a ton of hope that Bungie is going to completely reinvent first person melee combat, which is ultimately doomed to mediocrity since the player doesn't have the control he needs to properly simulate melee combat from that viewing angle. I'd prefer to keep it like it was with Reach, with perhaps some knives used in contextual assassinations, and focus on an area of gameplay that actually serves to benefit from the attention.

I think that reach was a platform that they used to test a variety of fledgling destiny features, so I'm expecting assassinations. It would be cool to have dedicated melee weapons. And given that they are calling the genre mythic science fiction I am expecting weapons to be magic imbued (hopefully) including the previously speculated melee weapons.

Maybe it'll be different for each one e.g. the hunter has a knife, the warlock has a magic type punch/push and the Titan just punches the crap out of them. This is just hope and speculation though, although it'd be awesome

I would like to see an optional melee (for instance, the "B" button in Halo) and dedicated melee weapons. The optional melee mechanic, when activated with a melee weapon, could act as a "power attack", or something to that effect.

1 返信I think the melee function will be geared towards Titans, but I'm sure that Hunters and Warlocks will have some sort of close range defense. If there are assassinations I'm pretty certain everyone will be able to do them. By the way the unknown class, or "Vanguards," might be a melee-oriented class, heck, they might even have metal shields! ;)
