And god sent his only son to die for us, isn't that technically suicide?
If so, that is a sin. And furthermore how come God didn't go to hell for committing suicide?

1 返信You're stupid. Jesus is the god of this world. Then there's god, who sent jesus to be the god of earth. There's God and then there's jesus. Jesus is a god. But not THEE god. Mkay?

At least we have evidence that Jesus was a real person, I'm pretty certain he was not the son of god though. Yes I'm an atheist. Before I say what I'm about to say I just want to say I respect everyone's beliefs as long as they respect mine. Honestly to me, Religion makes no freaking sense whatsoever.

Jesus is the son of God not actually God. Just how the bible says when a man and women marry they become one. The same stands for God and Jesus. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one even though they are three separate beings. Not all suicide is a sin. Suicide is defined by God as one willing taking his/her life. However if a solider choses to jump on a grenade to save the life of his fellow soldiers he did comment suicide but won't go to hell. Since John 15:13 says "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." Not all forms of suicide are sin. But most are.

I'm not religious at all, but this thread is stupid. Basically, God is omnipotent, all-powerful in layman's terms. He/She/It/Whatever doesn't conform to our standards of existence so God, according to some religions can be made up of three equally important parts, The Father, The Son (Jesus), and The Holy Spirit Ghost. Now on to the main point, The Father sent The Son to mankind to be sacrificed for our sins. That's not suicide because God gave man free-will so his hand was not involved in the actual killing of Jesus, therefore it is not suicide. Then again God is all-powerful and cannot die, so Jesus only lost his human body temporarily. It's all weird and convoluted, just like most religions, which is why I'm not religious in the conventional sense.

you have god the father, god the son, god the holy spirit. jesus sacrificed himself on the cross for our sins, so we can be saved and have eternal life. he didnt kill himself because he just wanted to die.(plus other KILLED him. he didnt kill himself)

3 通の返信I never really understood god being the same as Jesus when I was a Christian. I just say god is the father and Jesus is the son. Makes things more simple.

It wasn't suicide, it was sacrifice. John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends" Not a sin, but an act of love. Killing yourself is suicide, laying your life down for others isn't suicide, it may seem like suicide, but have you ever noticed how people talking about tragedies today like shootings don't say a person who put their life down to save others committed suicide? Instead they say they committed an act of heroism, or something to that degree. Same thing as what I said in the beginning.

If you run in front of a car or train, or do something to force a cop to shoot you (suicide by cop), it's still considered suicide despite another human either knowingly or unknowingly performing the act to do so. The reason it being considered suicide stems from the victims knowledge of imminent death and intent. Jesus, God, whatever you want to call it, theoretically knew everything and therefore came to Earth knowing that this would happen. It is written that it was Jesus' intent in the end to die for the sins of mankind, because if he wanted to, he could have had a holy intervention and just not die. Therefore, I could see why you could argue that Jesus/God did, in fact, commit an act of suicide.

In Islam God only does godly things. The President can clean the toilets but he doesn't since it doesn't befit him as a president. So why would God do things that don't befit him? For the same reason you don't bark like a dog is the same reason God doesn't turn into human, or have a son. He is not a human, and nothing in the universe is like him. He is above his creation. Surah 112 makes it simple about who God is: 112-1 "He is Allah, the one and only 2 the absolute, the eternal, 3. he does not beget, nor is he begotten, 4 there is nothing like him" He is the one god and the only god. He doesn't take human forms, he is not 2in1, 3in1 or 200in1. He's just one. He is absolute, humans are not absolute, not eternal. We eat, drink, feel pain. Can you imagine God saying "My back hurts"? He does not sire children, nobody is an actual son or daughter of God. And nobody gives birth to him or any form of him since he takes no forms and there is not anything that is like him. 3:59 - Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to him, "Be," and he was. Jesus was created just like Adam and that's all.

6 通の返信According to Christianity, Jesus did go to hell (a part of it), but not because of suicide. Jesus the son is distinct from God the father.

Technically God could have meant dying of natural causes as well, but if you want go by the bible's account it wasn't really death since he resurrected negating that whole suicide issue. It wasn't like Jesus sliced his wrists to get away from it all since he shows up again three day later to say some goodbyes and say how do you like me now idiots while ascending into the heavens or wandering the south west like Bruce Banner. Seriously though Religion is like the worlds oldest Comic-Con full of fandoms who'd gut your insides out if you dare say the Hulk could take Super Man.

What was the point in "sacrificing" his son if he was just going to revive him? And if god is so forgiving, why would he let have to let his son be sacrificed to begin with? Was a death really necessary for him to forgive?

16 通の返信Don't attack me when I post Quran verses as you know I am a Muslim. The word trinity can't be found in the Bible but it is in the Quran. 4:171 - O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one God: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
