The US Army just suspended tuition assistance for Vets and current enlisted.
It was one of the ways DoD is coping with sequestration.

HurtfulTurkeyにより編集済み: 3/12/2013 10:15:28 PMhttp://terminallance.com/2013/03/08/terminal-lance-secastration/ Just to clarify for the unaware, 'tuition assistance' is the program that pays for college courses while on active duty, and because of the difficulty of deployment, it's not widely used. It isn't the GI Bill, which is still active. Still bad news though. These budget cuts are hitting officer accession programs hard.

5 通の返信and yet there's over 100 members in the White House who make over $100,000 a year.. their salaries can't be cut a little bit to save some money? http://www.whitehouse.gov/21stcenturygov/tools/salaries

6 通の返信So let me get this straight, the Army suspends tuition critical for the education of their most loyal citizens, but still has money to throw at other countries in the form of foreign aid *cough*Egypt*cough*? Seems legit.

3 通の返信
WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO: Reinstate Military Tuition Assistance (TA) and block the Armed Service Branches from any further suspension of TA. Reinstate Military Tuition Assistance and block the Armed Service Branches from any further suspension of Tuition Assistance. This action should be accomplished by Executive Order as Commander in Chief. In spite of our countries current economic situation and the polarizing politics involved, Service Member benefits such as Tuition Assitance should not be compromised as a result. Access to Higher Education is important to Service Members as it allows for career and professional advancement. Created: Mar 08, 2013
3 通の返信I have seen quite a number of people on this forum advocate cutting the military's budget. This is just a part of that.

That really sucks. My brother was counting on assistance to help him through college. If the Air Force follows suit, my girlfriend's ride through college is going to be gone as well. Most of these cuts are hurting things that should be left alone. I understand the need to take the pressure off some areas, but I can't help but feel like more unnecessary things could be cut first. As far as what they might be, I don't know. I'm not going to pretend like I'm an expert on the matter.
