Vindictus (semi review?) PLAY the game!

So i've known this game since the beta in 2010 (which is roughly when the video was made and advertised). Months into the game I quit because it was getting lackluster (pretty stale). However, at the time there were only two characters and other various limited content. This was roughly 3 years ago. I came back to this game about 2 months ago because I had good memories regarding this game's combat system. It's probably the best in the industry (for MMO). No more double click grinding. It's intricate and very rewarding; it requires skill, strategy, and team work. You'll never play a game with a combat system as intense as Vindictus'. So I came back and I came back delighted. There are now six characters with a 7th on the way (I think) and much more content (increased level cap, story, etc). I currently just reached level 70 on my very first character that I made in 2010. I personalized my appearance, got skilled, and have seen been enjoying teaming up with players obliterating bosses together, reaping rewards. And then if we want we can ask to duel each other. Here's the thing: pvp in this game is probably the most intense player versus player action you will ever experience in an mmo. calculating your attacks, your smashes, jumps, dashes, casts, and everything else that goes into the combat of a character in vindictus. This is my only beef with the game. It is that they have not invested much into the pvp system, yet. I have no -blam!-ing clue why but it would be damn amazing if they made pvp easily accessible and simple to initiate. Now, there are guild wars, but i'm not sure how that shit works. I'm just hoping they come out with a pvp system that becomes a main feature of the game and not just something Nexon (the company) puts in as a side show sort of thing. This is really my half-assed review of the game but yeah. It's free to play, not really even pay to win, either. I strongly suggest you try this game out. The combat is just so...good....

    • Basically there is no such thing as auto targeting. You have to approach the enemy and aim, constantly focusing on a target (it's not as hard as I just made it sound - against your average monster of course). There are series' of attacks, depending on your character where you can land consecutive low damage hits followed by smash attacks which can be diversified with skills, critical striking, and more (attacking while in the air, for example). You have to manually manipulate the distance between yourself and your target to make sure your attacks connect. Each mission (dungeon) end with a boss (or bosses) that you have to defeat in order to finish the dungeon. Bosses normally require you to dodge/evade and counter, moving in at appropriate times so that you can deliver combos or spam some basic attacks (depending on your class - your character). As you progress, you get used to the tactics most useful to your character and you develop a certain method that plays well for your specific character. However, boss attack patterns are different in every single mission requiring you to adjust your approach to the enemy. This is partly what keeps the combat incredibly diverse and feeling fresh. However, PvP is another story. And it gets me excited just thinking about >:] Try the game. It's free and you can install it from Steam, too. You have nothing to lose.
