Destiny 2 Error Code WEASEL Seconds After Launch on PC/Steam — Extensive Troubleshooting Completed
PC/Steam Error Code WEASEL Seconds After Launch — Extensive Troubleshooting Already Completed
Hello,
I am looking for help with a persistent Error Code WEASEL issue on Destiny 2 for PC/Steam. The game gives me WEASEL within a few seconds of launching/logging in. I have around 1,200 hours played and was able to play a few months ago with no issues, so this is a new problem for me.
I do not see any ban or restriction notice on my Bungie account or in-game. The only message I receive is Error Code WEASEL.
Platform / setup:
* PC / Steam
* Wired Ethernet connection
* My PC has a DHCP reservation/static lease set on my router
* I am not sharing my public IP or full local network details here, but I can provide more information privately if needed
What I have already tried:
Account / ban check:
* Checked my Bungie account and did not see any ban or restriction notice.
* In-game error only shows WEASEL, not an account ban/restriction message.
Network troubleshooting:
* Restarted PC multiple times.
* Restarted router/modem multiple times.
* Changed DNS from router/ISP DNS to public DNS.
* Flushed DNS.
* Checked network configuration with ipconfig /all.
* Confirmed my PC has a valid IPv4 address, gateway, and DHCP configuration.
* Confirmed router UPnP is enabled.
* Confirmed UPnP NAT-T is enabled.
* Confirmed router IPv4 firewall is set to Low.
* Confirmed stealth mode is disabled.
* Created a DHCP reservation/static lease for my PC.
* Manually forwarded Bungie-recommended Destiny 2 PC UDP ports to my reserved local PC IP:
* UDP 3074
* UDP 3097
* Restarted router and PC after applying the port forwarding rules.
Windows / security troubleshooting:
* Temporarily tested with Windows Firewall disabled.
* Previously had Cheat Engine installed for Dragon Age: Inquisition, but it has been uninstalled.
* Checked for leftover Cheat Engine-related services/drivers using service and driver queries.
* Checked for:
* cheatengine
* ceserver
* dbk
* No matching Cheat Engine-related services or drivers were found.
* Stopped GlobalProtect/PanGPS VPN service and confirmed it was stopped before testing.
* Tested after disabling or closing local security/network-related software where possible.
* Malwarebytes service was present, and I attempted testing with protections disabled.
Steam / Destiny / BattlEye troubleshooting:
* Fully exited and restarted Steam.
* Launched Steam as Administrator.
* Verified Destiny 2 game files through Steam.
* Repaired/reinstalled BattlEye from the Destiny 2 BattlEye folder.
* Cleared/renamed the local Bungie/Destiny config folder in AppData.
* Restarted PC after BattlEye/config changes.
* Retested after each major troubleshooting step.
Current status:
* I am still receiving Error Code WEASEL shortly after launch/login.
* Router settings appear correct.
* UPnP is enabled.
* Manual port forwarding did not resolve the issue.
* No visible ban or restriction notice appears on my Bungie account.
* Cheat Engine leftovers do not appear to be present.
* The issue still occurs on PC/Steam.
At this point, I am wondering if this could be an account/session issue, BattlEye authentication issue, or something else on the backend. If anyone from Bungie or the community has seen WEASEL happen immediately after launch despite all of the above troubleshooting, I would appreciate any guidance.
