Capaldi/Bill is probably high point of the series for me post-Ecclestone, and World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls is one of the best episodes I’ve ever seen. I was also a big fan of Danny as a character and am still sad he wasn’t around more (and his exit was pretty traumatising).
I remember not being very impressed with the monk episodes but I watched them again last year and I really enjoyed them actually.
The World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls might be my favorite season ending, honestly. The interplay between the Master and Missy, the Doctor sacrificing himself just to buy the children a little more time to live, the whole time dilation thing, and wrapping up with bringing back Heather... It was all really great.
Yeah, I really liked Danny. That's why I wish he got along with the Doctor better. It wasn't bad writing that they didn't get along, but I liked both of them, and wanted to see them working together more. It is kinda funny how many people resist Cybermanification, though. Feels like at least one person resists every single time. :p
Yeah, I thought the Monks were really cool. I think they overplayed the existential crisis that comes from the Veritas, and as I mention I hate the "Haha, gotcha!" moment with the Doctor being on the Monk's side, but other than that, I thought all three episodes were really great, if a bit awkwardly placed in the middle of the season.
