Even more details are on page 12.

It's sad, very sad. The trend has been foreseeable for several years. I think there will be consequences.

12 通の返信I'm looking forward to all the speculative chatter about this. LOADS of articles are covering this story. Many are pointing out that Sony has yet to reveal M's sale numbers or player count, which with this new (and expected) information, likely means it's abysmal. Someone is going to take the fall for this. Let's hope it results in a resurrection of Destiny.

4 通の返信Heads will roll out the studio, sadly it won't be the ones that matter. Just a guess.

Marathon was meant to fail from the start. No one asked for it, people were hungry for more destiny. Greed is a real thing, nothing mills a business faster than a business that fails to cater to its main consumer. People will just go somewhere else

1 返信That’s not what it says. They didn’t loose 800millions, they acknowledged they overpaid 800millions for Bungie and had to write off the excess as a loss. It just says the studio isn’t worth as much as they paid for it. Which of course is tied to how miserable both games are doing at the moment, but they did not loose 800 mills because of Marathon.

14 通の返信That is so far, final write down will probably be closer to 2B. Marathon will never make a profit, Bungie should move everyone on to Destiny 3 which has some chance at a wider audience. D3 should take the best parts of D1 and D2 and create a new story arc.

Bungie thought neglecting D2 over Marathon was going to magically have us (who left D2) come back and buy that game. When we have been telling them for years about all the content they vaulted (stolen) in D2. Was going to make us forget about all that and play Marathon. Some of Bungie's detractors told us to "move on" "get over it" "that's how live services games work". Well look what's happening now, would I care if Sony pulled the plug on Marathon? No I wouldn't, now would I come back for D2 with all the vaulted (stolen) content back & FOMO seasonal content? Yes I would in a heartbeat.
