Destiny was killed to make a game nobody wanted. Hubris at its finest. Well played bungje.

It's literally... practically, functionally exactly the same. Most of their losses come via their other divisions... not gaming, GNS is carrying Sony Corp... And in GNS, the issue REALLY is... their hardware. And... the unfortunate fact the both the PS4 and PS5 have been compromised at the hardware level. This stuff is nuanced. Sony, it's in the docs... benefited via that write off, what do you think that means? (+) 766,358,100 usd To add: we can continue on... 110-120 billion usd... that WAS Jim Ryan's investment strategy for their live service initiative. Most of that has been lost. And the write off Sony was able to make offset those loses by only ≈ 767 million. Still... Sony GNS, specifically 1st party is carrying Sony. I'm not saying it's all roses though... unless future investment was incorporated or earmarked, it probably won't happen now. I do think D2 and Bungie may be at risk... per PR. Sony would, I'm sure, love to redirect accountability to focus on Bungie and not Jim Ryan. He's the actual root of it, and information has come out in the last month supporting it. Another Sony exec.
Shuhei Yoshida, former head of Sony Worldwide Studios, revealed he was 'fired' from his leadership role by then-CEO Jim Ryan in 2019 because he 'didn't listen to him.'
https://tbreak.com/shuhei-yoshida-jim-ryan-fired-playstation/
At one point, Sony targeted 12 new live-service releases by 2025, though this strategy faced mixed results.
That's the 110-120 billion mostly lost. Not mixed, an abject failure... they had a slight windfall with FF14's surging popularity and numbers for a little bit after it relaunched.

The situation at Bungie isn't down to Destiny or Marathon. It doesn't matter what game they make their culture will shine through. They don't listen to their players, they ask for feedback and then ignore it because it isn't what they want to hear. They make decisions that make no sense and we get told one thing only for another to happen. Look at June, the priority is another Pantheon and updated raid and dungeon weapons and armour. Most players do not raid, dungeons are the same. What else is there for the players who don't raid to come back for ??, what have they got to look forward to ?? .. I was laughing at the CM asking for feedback on which modifiers people don't like. The same players have been telling Bungie this for months. You might as well talk to the wall. Bungie cannot get out of their own way. And they now have two games that are clearly not making money. And that isn't going to end well for them. I run a business. If I treated my customers like Bungie treat their players I would be out of business .. and rightly so. Unless Bungie rock up with something big for Destiny, and rapidly, this is the end.

1 返信This is due to poor leadership at both companies and laying off all the talent a studio has. The leaders & devs that brought us the amazing moments we all recall no longer works for Bungie. They were laid off & some left with solidarity to those that were laid off. The people that left crafted Halo, Destiny, and the Light & Darkness saga. The people currently at Bungie just wear it like a skin suit or like a band that has fired all the original members. These people that still remain gave us Episodes, EoF, Renegades, and M.

8 通の返信Destiny wasn't killed for marathon. Destiny was doing badly before marathon that's why support got cut if it was still making profit it would still be getting loafs of support.

Yes they took a big swing with Marathon and I have a very hard time seeing that game blow up big time in the future. Unless it slowly turns into a different game, I don’t see how you go from a niche hardcore extraction to a mainstream game. I don’t want to play extraction shooter, that means I won’t pay a cent for it.

And I even said boycott that bs raid now look I’m calling it 2027 both games shut down and everyone replaced. 🤷🏾♂️ good luck bungo. Smdh

8 通の返信It's actually more than that. In total, Bungie lost Sony approximately $800 million.
