Lighthouse ticket - ticket based matchmaking with connection prioritized within tier. Designed to give a more “true skill” experience
Practice ticket - SBMM, same as the standard control playlist. Designed to protect lower skill players.

You mean the trials ticket. Where it matches you with opponents of similar skill? That ticket? Sbmm doesn't protect the lower skilled players. It makes them more frustrated once they face the upper echelon anyways
-
While there should be two pool, it shouldb work the way that you want it. Right now, SBMM is or should be a ladder to climb. CBMM is just a playground for the people already at the upper end of skill arc. Because they have such low odds of fighting their peers.
-
I think you got it backwards. SBMM is a place for lower skill players to enjoy themselves, practice, and earn some trials gear at a marginally slower rate. Lighthouse ticket (CBMM) allows for higher skill players to be rewarded, earning additional loot on wins and streaks + some exclusive customization stuff.
-
No I don't. Once your Silver 2 in terms of rank, you outclass most of player base in PVP. In SBMM you are guaranteed to fight your peers. In CBMM it's die roll whether or not you fight somone at your level. With skilled players being rare, CBMM is a playground for them.

Then how the hell would flawless be attainable? Force a loss streak and then pray on rngesus mm will make you go on a 7 win streak? Like, how would that work? Explain it to me because what you are requesting is systematically, logistically and by all means, realistically impossible
-
From what I and other players have experienced. The game's matchmaking is trying to force a 50:50 win loss ratio. Some people are just good enough or lucky enough to get win streaks. The system trying to force that ration screws with all their MM.

The problem with sbmm in a gamemode like trials is that sbmm will punish them harder. Imagine playing at 2am, you got weekend after doing 10 hours on the job. Now you come back, want to play sbmm trials. Now it is fair on paper. But now the enemy's bodyshots counts as headshots. He is teleporting all over the map Or we can do a stack classic and face the same people 5 times in a row
-
The problem is, sbmm or no sbmm, the retention of the casual audience will not be higher. We have a card with sbmm. Its called the trials passage, you get the same weapons and armor like someone with a lighthouse passage. You just forego cosmetics and lighthouse which isn't even all that anymore. Cbmm is better because if I get dunked on, its because of skill issue rather than ISP issues
-
Once you're equivalent to a Silver-2 in PVP rank. You out class most of the player base. Because of that you have low odds of meeting your peers or betters in CBMM. Thus you get to have a fun relaxing time at the expense of most of the player base.
-
So you basically want SBMM in both, why? Lower skill players already get protected by one ticked with SBMM so the lighthouse ticket should be CBMM and nothing else otherwise there's no reason to have two tickets in the 1st place.
-
This is what it is currently. Lighthouse has a different and extremely non-intrusive form of SBMM to make it feel like how trials is supposed to feel. With match difficulty increasing as you gain a higher streak. Does this likely have some bearing on connectivity? Probably, especially at the higher tier matches. But it’s also a core part of trials that the player base wanted back after it was removed going into D2. And only having been reintroduced with the last trials overhaul last year.
-
And it was so miserable it got removed after the 1st weekend. The people asking for win based mm got the SBMM practice card now. There is no reason for anything other than CBMM on the lighthouse card especially since any further matchmaking parameters will (by your own admission) negatively impact the connection quality of the matches. Currently Bungie "accidentally" turned lobby balancing back on (an accident that mysteriously happens every season) leading to a 50/50 win loss rate that appears entirely forced. SBMM (even in the form of win based it's still basically SBMM) would only re-enforce this even more. Needless to say a 50/50 win loss ratio and the requirement of a 7 win streak (no mercy) for flawless cannot co-exist.
