You're correct, but the decision (portal) was imo made to make their life easier, why manage the whole game when you can just sunset 90% of it. Whats crazy, & this snacks of incompetence or not caring, is they subset 90% of the game, & the 10% brought forward is completely built around levelling, sound plan, but then they totally remove levelling, boost everyone to 300, make the new soft cap pretty much 400, & this means 550 guys have now zero reason to touch portal, & the guys who were still playing are now forced to do GM content they don't like it can't enjoy, & play less. They killed every bird with 1 stone - priceless

They killed every bird with 1 stone - priceless[/quote] They boost players to 300 now, back in EoF they reset everyone, our gear, including our vaults (all our time and effort keeping stuff at PL more or less) to 10 TEN T E N. P O W E R. L E V E L. We had to grind back up, getting past 400 & subsequently 500 is easier now than back then The portal killed raids & any other activity that had a "set difficulty across the board", just look at current matchmade stuff, it's absolutely unplayable / unpleasant even on Master (they ruined Dark Blade strike with the Husk unstop champs being way too OP, they spam you with one after another when at phase 2 of boss fight, you got enemies everywhere incl. the flying tinnitus rats to deal with, meanwhile this mission was GREAT during Heresy) because of all the annoying modifiers and what's worse is the "capped PL & delta" garbage we got now is worse than how it were before, I'd rather they go right back to how it was before this dumb change, modifiers were what added - 10, - 20, - 30 etc difficulties to what you wanted.. Now you're forced into playing how bungie says so even in custom mode. Being over 400 PL is meaningless now, you're always hard capped below super strong enemies at all times. Just look at how the messed up CoElders on matchmade, lmao one rez & plenty difficulty, no champs, same goes for Derealize on MASTER lol, not even GM or Ultimate but Master being stupidity hard and a timer shorter than the actual lenght of the mission, another activity that was BETTER IN HERESY before the portal. Last season it's Fikrul that was the big issue, aside from them being very funny comedians putting the worst mission imaginable as the final Ultimate conquest, last season I only got up to Fikrul done (they put champs in the room as dmg phase is about to start, absurd & illogical, also those Grim everywhere and Psions with the fastfire infinite ammo handheld rocket launchers that are way overtuned OP since day 1 of TFS & they refuse to somehow tone down because "reasons" but nerf us any chance they get.) The matchmade playlists are better at least.

I was 1 strike short of rank 11 last year (ran out of time) & this was my year to hit 11 but I knew better than to do derealize, even before the current outcry. Completion numbers must be in a toilet. I hated that mission on normal 😆 add limited revives, awful jump puzzles, phalanx with shields that fire scuds during your jumps, -30 delta, banes, champions, & a very short timer, no thanks I'm happy staying at 7 😁

It's effectively a boost to 400 because 300-400 is now a power boost for every drop regardless of performance, vanguard alerts are 200 & give you 3-5 drops per run all the way to 400. Renegades campaign gives you 30-40 power bumps too, I was like 370 after a few missions on a brand new account starting at 300. 400-550 is now BRUTAL - I did 2 accs to 550 last season, the 1st one killed me from 500-550 but this season's is a lot longer than when they adjusted it last season & made to 500 sinoke . There's very few bonus drops, my menus used to be full of them, now I'm lucky if there's 1 active per reset (matchmade), last season had very nice guns that synced well with anti champion mods like Ahab char heal clip burning ambition, made content simple, mint for barrier, simple. We had 15% damage resist plus xp boosters & 4 prime engram boosters. This season the damage resist is 5%, there's 1 prime emgram boost, & the guns arent very good for burning through champions, especially seeing as everyone is pretty much in GM off the bat. I've never failed to complete things in a decade but this season most solo ops go to time, as do strikes & the 6 player activity simply can't be completed as revives disappear instantly. That's in part due to bad players being put into GM stuff, & everyone being pushed to using light sabre & swords, but it's just a perfect storm of negating easy levelling. I've also played a tonne of gm content, I'm 480+ & it's just very slow & hard going, it's not fun, like at all.
