I was about to make a post about this too but saw this and thought I'd just come here instead lol. I don't like how conquests are tuned and designed right now either. In my opinion, they aren't supposed to be this end-all-be-all hard -blam!- content. Could I run it with a stronghold titan and just breakdance with the new light saber? Sure, but that isn't fun to do every mission that is meant to take 20+ minutes each. Speaking of time, we seriously only get 15 minutes on missions that were clearly designed to take longer than that... That is exactly the type of game development that is unfair by design. Saying it should be hard does not mean make it unfair. There are plenty of difficult games that are totally fair that didn't need champions, promotions, or banes. Mission design, mechanical design, map/environmental design, level design, etc are what make a game fun. If done well enough, these bring challenges that don't feel tedious or nonsensicle. All this double and triple dipping with modifiers, power deficits, and plain overtuning numbers is bad decision making.

    Honestly, both lol. Even taking everything else out of the idea, I just hate timers and limited revives completely. No one liked them in Leviathan yet we still have them :(

  • Conquests are cool in concept, but really don't make sense when they are just a bunch of random assortment of content thrown together and are expected to be more "difficult", by adding in a ton of modifiers that may or may not make it harder. I honestly think they should just stick with keeping Conquests to content that is less mechanic heavy and more combat focused, with some minor mechanics here and there, maybe thrown in some more of the cooperative mechanics they had from The Final Shape, but never used anywhere else after the fact. I wouldn't mind making Conquests more focused on teamwork and communication, similar to raids or dungeons, especially since they are already a non-matchmade activity. I feel like they have many other options than what they already have chosen.

  • If the modifiers made sense for the activities and they remove the timer penalty, I think it'd be fine, but as it is now it just feels like I'm forced to play with people to get it done. Exotic missions were intended to be harder-than-average missions, so giving them the same scaling as other conquests of the same difficulty is actually making them closer to harder difficulties anyway, which would explain why the GMs are easier. Having a strike enemy with 100 health and an exotic mission enemy with 120 health and giving them both a 20% boost still makes the EM harder despite being labeled the same "difficulty". I can only imagine Harbinger or even a dungeon segment being conquests.
