The more I play this game I enjoy so much.... The more I realize how scummy some of their tactics are. Just for "player engagement". They're just throwing toys in the playpen at this point. To see how long they can keep the kids occupied while they pull their next caper. Edit: didn't they say a while ago they would STOP this?

could not agree more. Players have been complaining about this kind of quest design for years and literally it falls on deaf ears. some players talk about factions, and bungie implemented it, so it does show they see some of this, but in other cases like this one, they outright ignore feedback and wash rinse repeat the same garbage.

This “expansion” comes across like it was built for the weekly drip feed season style. Just imagine that in between each of those “go talk to X” steps, you had to go do another round of the seasonal activities. Then wait a week to wash rinse repeat.

I like it when it says to visit someone such as Au-Nor in the Cantina but when you go to her there is no means to interact because they want you to go talk to her at the bar where she isn't even physically standing. Now that is laughable.

On the subject of glitches and bugs, does anyone else think it's a little strange that Bungie tell us in their TWIDS and other sources about [i][b]known issues[/b][/i] that seem to take weeks or months to fix, yet nothing is said about issues such as the loot cave, and the strange engram rewards bug from the homeless guy, which were patched withing the first 3 days of launch? And not forgetting the double silver bug that lasted a massive 25 minutes. They may have lost many staff, but they've kept at least [b][i]one [/i][/b]special person who deals with the [i][b]really [/b][/i]important issues.

Here’s the problem. Successful games are driven by different elements. Gameplay: Some are just fun to play. People don’t log in for the story or anything else - the act of playing it is enough to retain players. Progression: some lean into character building - progressing through skill trees, etc. Players log in to see their character grow from nothing to something great. I am not talking about light level - I am talking real, tangible improvements (ie: I can now run faster, use new abilities, etc.). Story: Speaks for itself. Like reading a good book, people want to log in, to see what will happen next. Unfortunate side effect is, once the game is over, replay ability is very low. Reward: This is where Destiny falls on the scale. Players log in to chase weapons, armor and other things. Even the Eververse store plays into it. Each week it refreshes, giving players a reason to log in and see if this might be the week something great cycles in. Players chase small, frequent dopamine hits. Destiny relies on persistent participation. It is why they drop content every few months, and frankly I believe it is why the content is so poorly delivered. Releases are broken, the game is rife with errors and imbalance. The game doesn’t need to have a good story, it doesn’t need to invest in character growth. Heck, it doesn’t even need to be that fun or even (apparently) work all that great. It just needs to retain players. Which is why they can drop a new quest with 40+ steps that only delivers a couple missions. It is why they can re-release the same guns over and over, why so many missions are just others run backward. Bungie is very capable, and they aren’t lazy. None of this is accidental. People (myself included) being upset about filler content, constant nerfs and buffs, bugs, etc. just isn’t enough to offset the money saved by using these tactics.

this entire expansion is highly convoluted and disjointed... I'm not sure how to obtain T5 weapons and armor from the actual expansion. I can go to the portal and get the new T5 gear but everything from the expansion activities only drops at T4 or shows in the rewards section as T4 for an A+ platinum score. see...? doesn't that read as absolutely convoluted?

I’ve been playing legacy content like there wasn't even a new DLC drop Right now I'm trying to get some rice cakes and “small gifts” for the starcats and jade rabbit figurines...

I dunno, I've been playing through the EoF campaign and I'm sick of this matterspark, I am on the final 'the message' mission and I just want it to end, I would give anything for a run of 'speak to' steps to get me outta here! 😁

Don't get me wrong I'm enjoying part of the campaign and the lightsaber is fun, but going to your post I completely agree with the whole running around talking to people thing, and the worst part about it is they don't even talk anymore LOL there's no voiceovers you literally have to just read paragraphs now

I’d rather have it Star Fox 64 style: a little box and flapping head pops up in the corner during a mission, says some ish, and we keep on trucking. That’s how you progress a narrative without killing momentum.

Agreed, and know what else is nonsense? All this platform jumping crapola. Some of us stopped playing platformers years ago. And more nonsense is how everything is a puzzle, where you either have to spend an hour working out how to progress or spend an hour watching a u-choob walkthrough.

I don’t mind the back and forth, it helps me get my bearings and learn where everything is. I do wish every conversation was spoken rather than text but I guess in these hard times voice actors are a luxury.

I can’t get past the drifter in the beginning of the campaign. I finally made it past on my Titan but no luck with my warlock. I guess we wait for Bungie to get to it at some point?

100% Agree. And yet somenpeople are still defending it as part of the experience. Destiny started strong but then it completely went offtrack and became as so many 'game compqnies' a money grabbing machine at the cost of entertainment and commited gaming fans.... There should be a law against these kind of scams.
