The Portal has been hated since the launch of Edge of Fate. It’s been unanimously hated by the community despite the amount of rework put into it. Therefore, it begs the question: why not just admit defeat and get rid of it? Who’s paying Bungie to keep this thing in the game? Why not move it over to Marathon because Destiny players clearly want nothing to do with it.

8 通の返信No, it hasn't. It is not universally hated and a good amount like it, like myself. The portal is fine and is something the community has been asking for. The problem with the portal isn't the portal, it's the impatience of the community. It's obviously a work in progress and not a finished product. Bungie said this from the beginning. They are working on it, including adding all the old activities. The community just ignored that and wants to complain cause it's not finished. What's funny is if they got rid of the portal, the community would then start loving it and wishing it was back. Just like they did with pathfinder.

4 通の返信What community are you talking to, yourself I like it it need to be improved and expanded on

1 返信It destroyed Destiny’s immersive qualities and made it feel like a mobile game. Not sure why Bungie wanted this other than they had no other idea how to implement tiered loot, so they took the easier route of cutting the game into fragments and ignoring everything else.
-
1 返信The execs who made the decision to create the port hole are afraid of being fired, so they pretend that everything is fine and that we players just need to get with the program.
-
1 返信Portal would have been a quick way to access pinnacle raids, dungeons and promote double drops. Instead anything that isnt in the portal is just not worth your time. Period. The idea was good, execution, terrible, atrocious

The portal itself isn’t a bad idea. The way it basically made the director useless? Yes. The portal could have been a way to earn EXTRA gear on top of the director. Or they could have gone full big brain mode and ya know, used it as a way to cycle back old content like planets and old activities in rotation with updated perks and stats. But again, Bungie hates money for some reason
-
i also very much dislike the portal but it's like, they're not ever gonna take it out of the game. the portal is a content conveyor belt. it exists to make implementing new content as easy as possible because destiny's working with (i'd guess) half or less of the staff they had prior to bungie working on marathon. they don't have to do as much balancing, your power level and chosen modifiers are the balance for new activities. maybe once marathon fails they'll reverse course, ideally moving people back over to destiny which is like a proven modern-day franchise instead of firing them, but buddy we have a while to go before then.

3 通の返信I genuinely f*cking hate the Portal. I have not explored a single f*cking planet since it released with the Edge of Fate. 🙄

It seems even the Destiny2 forums are taking a hit. People are just getting tired trying to keep up with the all constant changes and complaints. By all accounts many people are moving on and never coming back. They've talked and complained until they were blue in the face and have nothing left to say. Bungie is going to do whatever they want which means some group of players aren't be happy with the results. Question is which group of players are they going to listen to? The answer will determine whether Destiny 2 will be profitable and grow or lose money and fade away. If history is any indication, it doesn't bode well..

1 返信THA_3rd_GUYにより編集済み: 11/23/2025 12:20:37 AMThe worst part is that they even acknowledged player sentiment towards the Portal in their Content Calendar a few weeks back. And what was their answer? They're adding Arena Ops and more activities to existing Ops in the Portal. What? They should be working on phasing out the Portal, not putting more effort into it.

3 通の返信The Portal is literally forcing people to pay full price to get a pamphlet of what they could do if they did not make the poral
-
Ngl, the portal isn't even bad in concept. it's just tied to an abysmal leveling system that destiny has never needed past D1 and the fact next nothing is in it. They have literal years of content that would see revitalization simply by being able to edit enemy combatants' capabilities alongside the players with toggleable matchmaking for those that want to do fireteam based activities. Like if the portal didn't exist, people would still say there is no new content, and this dlc has been entirely worthless from a value proposition. Bungie is just that inept. People say the portal killed Destiny's exploration when lets be honest your looking at a guide when your hunting for stuff because the puzzles are so obscure its sickening.
-
It’s there to make it easier for a skeleton crew to maintain the game and a way for them to recycle old content. I don’t see it going away anytime soon. It does have potential, it just needs work, a lot of work.
-
They did it to avoid having to constantly manage the rest of the game. It's a decision made by a studio with very low staff on this game. Reverting it would take a lot of staff to then fix the entire game, which unfortunately isn't happening.

1 返信I know everyone hates the portal so do I but I've been doing some thinking over the course of playing I think the portal is them fixing the code they're moving everything to a new system That's why all the old stuff and new stuff is not meshing at all The only way to clean up some of that spaghetti code is to compartmentalize and completely redo it The new systems the way they're doing the exotics the stats and everything else it makes sense if you think about it that way It's going to be a really rough and janky transition but I think in the end it will be better for everybody they just need to work on the implementation a bit everyone knows they're understaffed because of the layoffs and the transition from being a solo company to being absorbed into Sony is going to be a problem Don't expect miracles but they're making progress slow but at least it's progress and just think once all that coding issues get sorted out we might be able to have a game that doesn't have so many bugs Rome wasn't built in a day after all
-
The problem is I don’t suspect they can that quick as renegades ships soon, will see what happens after that if the game recovers in player numbers. And as for hate I see more for portal and EoF on Reddit bungie need to get there act together.

29 通の返信You're confusing the forums with the general community. The portal itself isn't bad, & a bunch of people would be pissed if they got rid of it & we regressed to one of the older systems.

1 返信Personally, I don’t mind the portaloo…to me, it’s just a quick eats menu… That said, I like WarFrame’s planets system whereby one follows a predetermined pathway to complete a set of missions to make progress…easy to follow and simple to understand - especially for New Lights / Blueberries. There’s a lot of good stuff in WF that would sit well with Guardians, eg, in game trading / Fast Pass vs. F2P Grinder options / war pets / etc… This New Management Team at BHQ are trying to steer this ship away from the reefs…that is evident…At least - I think it is!? 🤔 Rome wasn’t built in a day… That is all. Ease Springs! 🖖👻
