The main problem is once you get to max power then you are stuck there unless you delete everything to level down. You can play on lower difficulties but can't get higher rewards. I've stayed at the 500 mark to be able to play gm difficulty as I can get my tier 5 from b+. Only downside is i have to play matchmade on ultimate and i don't want to.
Ultimate should have been a choice for people who want to sweat. But GM should have been for the rest who don't. Especially since the grind to start with was so ridiculous. Gm can still be difficult at times (bear in mind I'm an older player who has had a stroke). For the lifespan of destiny there has been a choice for players. Lfg for endgame content but some could be attained through other means.
Now its all about making everyone get high power and then pulling your hair out ad content is difficult. Most other games have a difficulty setting, and extreme modes was generally for people who liked to post via achievements.

Are you sure deleting everything will make the game think you are a lower difficulty level? what if the game remembers lets say you made it to gm but you delete all your high gear to lower to master but the game still thinks your at gm? do you know from anyone or experience that deleting will lower difficulty level so you can get a good score at a lower difficulty?

Yes anything at a higher level makes the difference. If you delete all 500s and above it drops you back down. Some people are doing this to make it easier to play. Personally I'm staying at 500 ish. Some stuff is 504 but only kept them till I can get a 500 to drop with the god roll then ill delete 504.
