I imagine Pete Parsons told Bungie to build the portal, and Tyson was left holding a puddle of wet and slimy.

Nah Tyson is game director. Pete pretty much just allocated resources and messed with the dev teams priorities. The portal, Mythic bullet sponges, idiotic modifiers, and the power grind was all greenlit by Tyson Green who is basically dunning-kreuger incarnate and should never direct another media product ever again 😶

It's statistically rare... speaking to the idea that someone is so dumb they don't realize it. 2. Competency isn't individually judged nor determined in a vacuum. I'm not saying it never happens, people ascending rank, position... above their merit and stature. We know that everyone hated PP. We have anecdotes per his character and his mismanagement. We're experiencing the consequences of it. O'Donnell has gone on the record in saying PP wasn't really integral to any of Bungie's major successes. And Sony showed him the door. The same can't be said for Tyson. His fellow devs have always said good things about Green. And Sony kept him. 😇👍💠

Dunning-Kruger is more so used when someone overestimate their ability in a specific area. Tyson Greens understanding of balancing difficulty, player engagement, and gear acquisition is tragically lacking and he thought because he worked at Bungie so long, that he understood what was best for the game. He can be quoted saying "its actually easier to reinvent the wheel" in an Edge of Fate interview and the way he talks about core game updates being something that can be considered part of an expansions value was the first red flag. I'm sure he's a nice person, but that's not what I was getting at. His incompetence has led to the worst player drop off and engagement in the games history. And we thought Luke Smiths bad decisons couldn't be topped. Tyson Green needs to step down. He doesn't understand Destiny 2 or its players and ignored YEARS of lessons learned. It's a shame they removed Scott Taylor from working on Destiny and have him as a general manager for Marathon. I don't even know what current dev could whip the game back into shape.

Read the article. It's a modern peer review of the original study misrepresented for years. Again, it's statistically extremely rare. And if Tyson has gotten nothing but accolades his entire career. Luke Smith led this game from tTK and through Forsaken. Those are the facts. Oh, I'm hoping it's Casey Hudson. I hope Sony brings him on to share game lead. 😇👍💠

The point here, is that someone with many accolades in something can still make mistakes and overestimate their ability to perform in a field they THINK they'll excel in. Clearly those accolades didn't avert Tyson Greens colossal -blam!- up. Again, he ignored the many lessons learned and pushed his vision forward and the game will not recover this time judging by player engagement stats. I dont think he's stupid or bad at everything but he is not Destiny director material. He thought reinventing the wheel was easier and blundered hard. That's the core of what I'm saying. Don't know who Casey Hudson and will have to look into their work. I miss Destiny having a bright future and just want someone who's in touch and consults with the community more.

You know who Casey Hudson is... KoTOR Dragon Age Mass Effect You should research who Tyson Green is... Halo Forge mode. Halo Firefight Lol, I'm giving away the trivia answer for the topic I just posted, you should read that too. Halo through Reach mission designer. He also led for most of the Final Shape. 😇👍💠 Destiny Design has always been iterative... this is what that looks like under extreme duress.

I know who Tyson Green is. He's a company vet. Those Halo games weren't live service mmmorpg's and weren't nearly as complex. Mission design isn't the overarching issue with the state of the game. It's a progression, engagement, and rewards issue. As for The Final Shape he was the "end to end playtest" stage director for half. Joe had already laid the foundation and groundwork. Given full director duties for the expansion that followed, he gutted almost everything that worked and alienated the overwhelming majority of players. Poor reviews, poor gameplay, poor sales, and poor player reception. Being under duress is one thing, but he continued to make changes that were borderline antagonistic since the new expansion launched. He doesn't even engage with the community and take accountability like Joe did. Defend him all you want, that isn't going to get us a better Destiny 2. Even the community manager said to keep giving any and all negative feedback lol! His creation of the portal, scoring, 450 grind, poor nerf communications, awful reward economy and progression, and...-blam!- destination abilities instead of new supers or aspects? Yeah. He did all that. Awful director and I stand by that 😤
