Bungie has made a lot of changes in response to player sentiment, the leveling is way faster now than it was in June, unpopular Exotic changes have been rolled back, loot drops are increased, they made some fantastic changes to Warlocks in direct response to community feedback, Unstable Cores are gone, the difficulty curve has been smoothed out, and they're letting us keep our Light Levels and opening up featured gear in Renegades.
The game is better today than it was in June in many respects, and a whole lot of that has been in direct response to the community saying "Hey, this feels lousy, we need a fix."
I get the frustration, but honestly you might want to check in with the game and see if it feels better now, because a lot has changed. I don't know if Sony was telling Bungie to speed up leveling, but we definitely were.
Why would he check in? People left bcoz the loot is poor, & the content is all old stuff, portal makes the game feel souless & theres zero community anymore. Power levelling was a complaint, but it's still there just a bit quicker & they've totally missed the point of why people quit.
Numbers are literally plummeting still & no one came back after the changes.

OP was talking about how they're frustrated that Bungie is listening to "shareholder sentiment" rather than the community; I was just pointing out that Bungie has done a pretty good job recently of listening to the community.
OP didn't mention the loot being poor (though loot drops have improved), or old content (though new content has been added), or the portal being soulless, or there being zero community; those might be your reasons for playing less, but OP didn't mention them.
Meanwhile the pace of the game has improved a lot since the last time OP played in June, a lot of the community's complaints have been addressed, and the game itself is arguably in a better state than when Edge of Fate launched. If someone is basing their opinions of the game on the state it was in four months ago, they might be surprised by some of the changes that have been made, hell, they might even enjoy some of the changes.
You're bringing up points OP didn't make. If those are the reasons they left, then sure, it still sucks, but OP was talking about Bungie ignoring the community, so I think it's fair to point out the changes Bungie has made in response to the community.
You make a fair point, I was just pointing out the sticking points that weren't addressed. More of the loot, if it's pointless, isn't a good thing. Easier power, if you don't like power grinding, isn't enough. More content, if it's more old content, doesn't move the needle for people.
That being said, you're right in the context of the op 👍
