I only noticed this morning that the difficulty level had changed. I was no longer a newbie, a whelp, a kitten, and nor was I even an expert (as if), but reaching a higher level had somehow catapulted me into something I just wasn’t prepared for.
400 doesn’t represent me who, as a poor, bang average, less than average player, struggles to get his ship into orbit, and now because my level gives a false sense of my skill (non-existent at the best of times), I’m thrust into harder content where I can barely get twenty kills and die with alarming regularity!
I’m quite enjoying the haunted candy thingy, have had no soft locks and the rewards are quite acceptable, but boy oh boy do I feel underpowered and underperforming running ‘grandmaster’ level events.
Yeah, I’m at 400, but I still feel like a 200 player at best!

1 返信Welcome to Bungie's Destiny. Where you play the same content high end streamers do in every activity, whether you have the skill or not.

2 通の返信How do people reach 400+ level quickly? Is it the campaign? I have been doing activities for more than a month and still stuck at 270.

3 通の返信Tbh youre mostly struggling because of your loadouts. They are awful. Youre using mismatched armor sets cheating yourself out of useful bonuses. Youre not leaning into any of the exotics youre using. Difficulty isnt your ONLY issue. Its the terrible loadouts on all 3 characters. Im 100% positive there are builds on my account & others who have commented that will help mitigate SOME of the issue you may be having. But its on you to ask for help.

1 返信If I were you, I'd try to play more PVP, that does help with PVE. You learn how to get out of the open areas by sliding or dodging or avoiding them at all. You learn how not to die (eventually), You learn how to take advantage of angles to fire without being fired at directly. I'm a much better pve player by playing pvp.

3 通の返信You must be a hunter main, and can’t kill enemies as fast as titans and warlocks. You are probably not as terrible as you think you are.
-
2 通の返信Not trying to be mean, but maybe you need to check a guide for better builds? I checked your gear, and on your 3 characters, the equipment you are using may be a factor in what you are describing.

1 返信The only thing that I have felt since launch is just the damage you take.ive played it all and play ultimate.infact I have two separate accounts at 550( old try hard lol). As many other people mentioned it's really build crafting . The higher in level you'll see more champions, and annoying banes.it forces you into a few builds and weapons. I see this mistake all the time . someone brings a sword to gm/ultimate hypernet example . Like really you are useless at the boss.your builds have to have gear to deal with champions, banes and the boss. That strat changes every season every activity. . Best of luck to you

1 返信Some geese (Harrowed)により編集済み: 11/2/2025 2:16:57 AMyeah the new power deltas are really rough. some of my tips on staying alive, in the interest of teaching good habits that will lead to you having more confidence in your skill as a player: never, ever stand still if you're in the open. you need to find cover if you're gonna plink plonk, and at deeper under power you need to be on your toes. majors, minibosses, and aoe attacks hit harder than you think they do, and should be given prioritization and approached with greater caution in a fight. my buddy, who is used to being overlevelled and is a titan main, is struggling to remember that running up and punching a yellow bar is not a smart move at -30. even red bar taken and hive knights are surprisingly difficult to square up against. the d2 community is, let's face it, a giant pack of min-maxxers, and bungie has taken to crafting their content around this fact. you want to focus on damage output in pve, because the sooner a guy dies the sooner they stop shooting you. if you already do these things, congratulations! you're already doing pretty dang good! if not, i hope these things help you out! good luck out there guardian

1 返信What I found, both for better and for worse, is that build crafting makes all the difference. LL0-LL399 is about skill, LL400+ is all about build crafting. You've gotta' find a build that can nuke champions; after you find that build, the challenge gets a lot easier - at least in solo ops, fireteam ops is a bit of a mess (to put it mildly.) And for what it's worth, those graduations hit a lot of us like a truck, you're not at all alone in your frustration. When I got into Master level content I thought I was done for, like that was the end of the road for me, but after a while you start to learn "Okay, there's a barrier champion in the next room, I need to clear the adds first, then nuke the champion down, break his shield, and kill him, so I need to keep X ammo for Y weapon." What I'm saying is that it takes a while, but you'll learn the fights. The thing about higher difficulty levels is that not everything works, some builds just don't cut it, and that sucks. If you're up to it, try Getaway Artist Warlock, having a buddy handy really helps. Really, just having a meta build helps. I believe in you, I believe you can do the thing! I've been where you are, and if I can get past it as a fellow average player, you can, too. DIM is your new best friend.

4 通の返信The power curve is not smooth guardian and at 400 you have almost a backwards step but keep at it and you will feel more comfortable from 410 onwards. Take advantage of the Haunted Altars activity for extra powerful drops to speed levelling. I'm a capable player and I was caught out as I reached the Master and Grandmaster difficulty thresholds but as I said, you will push through and find the curve flattens. Especially now as it's a fixed delta and adding modifiers does not add to the enemy power level. Eyes up Guardian. :)

3 通の返信If you made it to 400. You have the gear and weapons to progress even further. I’m not trying to be a smart -blam!-, but I feel you may be selling yourself short. It sounds like a confidence issue. No “get good” or any of that no sense. Just stay with it guardian. You will continue to rise! Look for builds online (you tube) to help with recommendations on upgrades your favorite class. That will help a lot 🫡 stay with it!

3 通の返信I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me. I don’t know why Bungie thinks that just because you have the ability and tenacity to grind to a certain level, it suddenly makes you a professional level gamer. This entire power system is just plain stupid!

Awtiiiにより編集済み: 10/31/2025 4:06:05 PMYou're not giving yourself enough credit set, I know your limitations after years on here but there's very little difference as you go up levels, it's all very samey until you hit ultimate. Solo ops is easy peasy & if you don't like those just run matchmade & let others do a lot of the work. Just play your life & play smart, things like resist mods help a tonne, as does a build that can give health back like phoenix dive warlock with high class stat - it's really very simple. Happy to advise. Ultimate 500+ is a little tankier but even that's not overly bad if you avoid the awful stuff like contest of elders & savathuns spire - it's just a bit slower & you get bored. Easiest build for everything honestly imo is my warlock. All you need is Song of flame & phoenix dive Mint retrograde (the bow that drops this season can work too for barrier & range) Ahab char (look for heal clip & burning ambition) in solo ops - Polaris Lance if you're doing match made stuff & play your range. Any heavy, I'd say boomslang but I never use it much so your call, anything works. The only stats you want over 100 is class as high as possible, & weapons if it allows class to be above 100 too. Artifact put on all the solar & radiant mods. You can basically stun all champs over & over, & phoenix dive to get health back over & over. Practice makes perfect & it's really simple.

1 返信Trust yourself buddy! I am no way better regularly scoring lowest on any PvE fireteam activity. Yet I am on my way to 550 and only one conquest away from rank 10. Which sounds like a paradox to me. If someone like me can accomplish that everyone can. GM/Ultimate is not really (significantly) harder than Master/Expert and alike just more champions and less revives hence one must play more cautiously. Go ahead, sweet tier 5 loot is waiting for you... 😉

2 通の返信Im not a gm level player but i figured it out. I suggest play pvp until you get a few more levels then try again. Good luck guardian.

Dooodleyにより編集済み: 10/31/2025 5:32:44 PMI'm convinced there's something off with the deltas. I used to play at -30 or -40 all the time prior to the implementation of the pre-set deltas and never had any issues. It's just been a drag since the deltas though. Another thing I've noticed, for exotic pinnacles specifcially - because I havent paid as much attention in fireteam ops, is that I have the exact same damage output in GM's and Ultimate - and I would assume the same damage taken too but that's harder to get the exact numbers on. There's literally no difference. It begs the question, are we on the same deltas regardless what difficulty we play on? Also, there's an issue with the system when we have to spec for an old GM and get advice from others just to clear daily content.

1 返信Hey Guardian! I would not consider myself a very good player either and was a little surprised when I hit 400 and started GM level activities. However, my suggestions to make things easier would be : - Get some weapons with good rolls you enjoy using. Mint Retrograde in your primary slot is a lifesaver. Zavala also has a good selection of Mida Mini Tools right now for your energy slot (I would recommend the one w/ Heal Clip & Incandescent/Burning Ambition) - Check YT, etc. for a build you think would be fun. If you are a Warlock, I would recommend the void grenade/Contraverse Hold gloves/Chaos Accelerant build. A friend recently turned me on to this and you can just devastate enemies with almost constant grenade uptime. - Keep playing the Haunted Alters activity for the rewards, but also to get a feel for how GM at -25 will continue to feel like as you play. It is a chill and fun event imo. Reclaim is also a fun event to play to get good rewards vs. time spent and also is a good source of GM level difficulty "training" Good luck Guardian and keep at it!
