Bungie name swapped to Redacted for unknown reason
My bungie.net was either Kilthas or 1DrinkinBuddy (I believe the former). No apparent name violation on either. I cannot change it. I believe this may be related to closed technical test for Marathon but I have yet to receive response there in NDA discord channels after a couple of days. I'm uncertain where else to escalate.
Edit - reviewing DMs from past year or so, it was almost assuredly Kilthas.

If it says you can only change your name one time, that means you still have a token to change it. Bungie does not discuss reasons for why names are actioned against and there is not an option to appeal. Be aware that your previous name most likely cannot be used again and if so would be rejected automatically. Changing to a similar name may result in Bungie actioning against that one as well if they consider it a violation of their policies. If you have run out of name changes, then it will remain as-is and cannot be changed until Bungie issues players another token at some point in the future. Kilthasにより編集済み: 12/11/2025 5:21:57 PMHad some notifications indicating that a couple of people had liked one of my comments here as recently as two weeks ago, so not sure if they were searching for their own solution, etc. That said, I ultimately discovered that you can actually open a ticket to appeal a forced name change. It did take some time to be processed (a couple of weeks or more), but my name was reinstated. Because no notes were included with the case, it's impossible to say if my name was flagged by a player, a moderation tool or something else entirely. Ultimately, it was resolved to my satisfaction, and I assume whatever the catalyst was for the change has been addressed to ensure others don't experience this same trouble.

It would seem like a stretch, as those were being renamed to Guardian, and was presumably patched. However, it does suggest that the system is vulnerable to mistakes and not an unassailable system like some here are suggesting. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/264271671?page=0&path=1 Incidentally, as noted in some of the comments, the game is suggesting my old name. Odd for something so offensive .... unless a bug.

7 通の返信Whether it was hit by the auto filter when accessing Marathon or Removed manually by the moderation team you cannot and should not pick that name again otherwise you run the risk of getting it removed and being STUCK with a default name permanently.
