Yes it's dumb but how do you expect bungie to rid people of their fears? If people would overcome such an irrational fear then companies that take advantage of it wouldn't be able to use those tactics.

Because Bungie adapted the live service model rather than the sequel model years ago and that greedy decision killed the game and company.

The casual player has no hope in this franchise, unless your a 24/7 streamer or dedicated grinder there’s simply no place for you to enjoy the game or experience it the way end game content is meant to be enjoyed. The casual been forced in destiny rising on app 🤦🏻‍♂️ Sony buy out killed the game & they’ve done wasting money on it & letting it slowly die, without a care.
