The Fabian Strategy is literally named after a Roman senator that was elected to lead all of Rome after the battle of Lake Trasimene when the Carthage General and literal god of strategy Hannibal ambushed the Roman Consul Flamennius and wiped out the Roman army of 30,000. After that defeat rome panicked and for the first time in literal years elected a dictator and they chose the senator named Fabius Maximus who used they tactic now known as "Fabian Strategy" to wittle down the Carthagian army in hit and run ambushes.
