Classic game collections are so great. Capcom’s been really great about Mega Man lately, too. The legacy collections let you play almost the entire franchise, which is fun. There are a [i]lot[/i] of Mega Man games.
I played through the X, Zero, and ZX games this way. Plan to do Battle Network eventually, but admittedly BN1 was rough, so it’s difficult to play the sequel…

Thanks for reminding me! I remember we talked about Mega Man a while back. Just had a look and the Legacy Collection (first 6 games) is on sale right now, so I bought it. Another collection I’m looking at is Gradius Origins, but I’m going to wait for it to go on sale too.

Haha, good luck. I tried getting through the original Mega Man games and only made it to 3. The original series is [i]haaaard[/i]! :p Gradius is a shmup, right? I don't think I've played that one. They aren't quite rereleases so much as reimaginings, but if you like arcade-type games, you might like the Atari Recharged series. I've only played Yars Recharged, but it really does perfectly capture the idea of the original game but made significantly better. I haven't quite convinced myself to pick up the others yet (Yars' Revenge is the only game on the Atari that I like), but the other Recharged games I've looked at do seem to be a lot of fun.

I had Mega Man 2 when I was young and I think I only ever managed to complete it using a Game Genie. I’m usually terrible at video games, so I expect most games to be tough for me. Yes, Gradius is a shmup. One of the best. The Origins collection looks great, but a little pricey. I’m not as interested in reimaginings. The original art style is a big thing for me - I really love the 8-bit and 16-bit graphics. Happy memories from my childhood.

Haha, yeah, Mega Man 2 is rough. They ported over a couple rooms from Mega Man 2 in X5, I believe, and they're genuinely some of the hardest rooms in the entire game. And they're [i]easier[/i] in X5 than in 2, because you have extra movement options. I do like shmups. I may have to look into that at some point. I agree to an extent with reimaginings, but I have to disagree when it comes to Atari games specifically. Atari games in their original state are pretty meh. We're talking about, like, Pong era games. Very barebones. Yars Recharged really takes the idea and appeal of the original game and turns it into something great, and I imagine the others do the same.
