I have my gripes with the new systems in the game but overall I've actually liked the portal grind. The loop of grinding for featured gear and being rewarded for using it has really changed the way I play the game in a positive way for me. I would like to see a slightly better system for how we're rewarded for engaging with featured gear but that's not the hill I'm dying on today. This preamble is to say that the loop was fun for me, made especially rewarding with conquests as milestones along the way. This stopped very abruptly at 400 power. The modifiers I need to play with now at grandmaster I understand from a difficulty perspective, lots of champions, revive tokens, harder modifiers in general, etc. and I enjoy engaging with that level of content every now and then (there's nothing like the rush of soloing a dungeon) but that's not something I want to do every day. The most comfortable level of difficulty for me is a nightfall level activity, which seems to equate roughly to a master portal activity. This is where I have the most fun with the game, and it was consistently giving tier 3 loot which I was happy with because that seems reasonable for the difficulty of the content. However, I've recently realized that I can no longer go back to that difficulty. If I run a portal activity on master I'm tremendously over-leveled to the point that I only get tier 1 loot, so I'm now locked in to [i]always[/i] playing on grandmaster. I haven't reached ultimate yet but now I'm kind of dreading it. This issue compounds when I try to play with my friends who are all at lower level than me, because it pulls them up to a power level that's invalid for master content (which is what they usually play), but they still get the rewards they would for completing something at master level even though they played harder content, so they would rather not play with me at all. All this is to say I think it would go a [i]really[/i] long way to be able to still be able to go back and play things on lower difficulties for appropriate rewards, because right now having to constantly play on grandmaster if I want a chance at any of the new loot in the portal is exhausting me, and especially the friends that I play with.
