Maybe your right. But as a player since D1 i think I can have a say in how I feel playing. Thanks for your condescending words though. Always appreciated 👏

  • You're welcome to state your feelings all you want, but if you want condescension try this on for size: As someone who's been playing since 'D1,' maybe you should be better at the game than you are.

  • I wasn't trying to be condescending, I really wasn't. Not the first time, anyway. The point I was making is that you need to recognize your limitations and set your expectations accordingly. I KNOW that I can't solo a dungeon and I accept that; I don't blame the game or its difficulty for my own failings.

My reply here is not really to you, but to Bungie (but they won't read it). But I will continue elaborating on your post if that is ok. Why don't Bungie make all the activities playable for everyone? Why should you accept that you can't solo a dungeon? Would it not be better if Bungie gave an option for setting the difficulty so you could finish the dungeon? You would perhaps not get as much loot as if you had finished it on normal difficulty, but you would have the experience with you that you had finished it and learned from it so you could perhaps try it with friends or on a higher difficulty. Is that not better than to accept that you can't do this or that activity, making the game feel that the content is not made for you even if you paid for it?

  • Now, I want to answer this. A while back Bungie told everyone about Explorer mode for dungeons, and I'll freely admit I was quite vocal with my objection to the idea. It seemed to me that the reason behind endgame content was being watered down to placate players unwilling or unable to put in the time and effort to tackle the challenges said content brought to the game. Well, I will openly admit I was wrong; exceedingly so, actually. One more time, for posterity: I. WAS. WRONG. Although I'd completed the featured dungeons prior to Explorer mode being introduced, I still gave it a try and it was really fun and refreshing to run through them again. I definitely think this is something Bungie should bring back for the other dungeons and from what I saw many others seemed to feel the same way. I'm still not sure the idea would work for raids but again, I was wrong the first time and if Bungie can make it work I'm all for that too. As you said, it would be really great for more players to experience the activities.

  • Unfortunately @jmann43b, I did not test the Explorer mode for dungeons. I wanted to, but I had too much to focus on in real life. But I think it was mostly appreciated according to posts here on the forum, and I'm really glad you liked it also even if you was hesitant prior to it :) It is just a shame that Bungie removes functions that players like.

I'm sorry you missed the opportunity, since it was essentially what you described: a lower difficulty with added markers to aid in navigation (although there were some instances when it didn't quite work that well), enemies without as much health or dealing as much damage, and a chance to at least see the work put into the design and story of the dungeons. Also, tokens were rewarded allowing players to purchase one or both of the available dungeon Exotics (in this case the Navigator trace rifle from Ghosts of the Deep and the Hierarchy of Needs bow from Spire of the Watcher) along with select gear from those dungeons. With any kind of luck Bungie will do something similar again in the future. I feel like that was the idea behind Dungeon Lairs in the Portal, allowing players to experience a taste of what it's like to run the corresponding dungeons. Unfortunately, the execution fell a bit short and a few things seem to have left a bad taste in player's mouths is the timer, difficulty, and bugs that came with them.
