The TRUTH About Bungie...
When Destiny 2 became a live service game, it was structured in a way to intentionally manipulate and victimize gamers into a pay and play forever cycle. If you feel violated, victimized, frustrated, but still can't stop playing this game, then they have achieved their goal of creating within you the Stockholm Syndrome. I will add more to this later. In a nutshell, instead of making you want to play because it's fun, they force you to become addicted regardless of the harm it will cause.

It is 100% true. There is a very disturbing trend of game companies using psychological principles and studies to influence the design of games. You see this especially in MMO games, live service and mobile games especially. Things like addiction studies and random reward scheduling, deliberately obtuse currency conversions etc., really are damn blatant attempts at exploiting players for any one experienced with psychology. These really got turned up with the EoF till the point the vast majority of the player base can see it for what it is. If the core of the game wasn't so good (before EoF at least), I would never have bothered to return post final shape. Now I am just looking to clear some legacy content with my friends before leaving this game for good, after foolishly purchasing the seasons pass.

It was always about engagement but I feel like there were areas of the game that were made just to be cool. Pursuits for us to chase and hidden secrets for us to uncover. Now, for me, the game just feels like a level select screen with no actual universe for our guardian to inhabit. Loot is worthless unless you’ve done hundreds of hours of the same mindless levels. Playing activities mainly for fun but with the chance of cool loot now doesn’t exist - well not until you’re 400+. I’ve stopped playing. The edge of fate engagement simulator was just too much for me. I’m not saying I’ll never come back, I hope changes are made to bring back the magic of the game. But with this model, I don’t see it happening.

They force you to become addicted? Spoken like a true addict that can't acknowledge reality.

The game used to be about choosing to remain in and play more BECAUSE you are having fun playing the way you are. Now it's about playing more regardless of whether it's fun or not. If I can't enjoy myself, then I should stop playing. That's the simplest way to explain this situation. Sadly, I don't think they care enough to actually fix it to bring people back.

I don’t think it’s the gameplay loop that is like this but rather the studios idiotic actions where they screw up, ease up slightly with no real improvement and then lie as they say they will improve before screwing us over again.
