Hello there,
That message occurs when you are trying to authenticate a Steam account that is not currently linked to that profile.
Based on your post here https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/264812341?sort=0&page=0
The original Steam account was stolen and subsequently deleted, if that is the case it cannot be authenticated to activate or deactivate cross save.
With this information, can you maybe elaborate a bit more on what you are trying to accomplish? Is this a new/different account you are trying to match to your existing PSN?

Also, yes my steam account was hacked a while back but that has since been resolved. Steam was able to retrieve my account, no issue. Just took some time. This was taken into consideration. I am able to login to steam, play Destiny without an issue. The issue is PURELY cross save.

Spent 10 years coding websites, developing software and more. This is purely 100% an issue with Bungie. As I mentioned, I even went and verified the Auth Token being sent from Steam as correct. What's weird is that I have a Bungie Developer API token that I use for a program I made that pulls the Bungie backend API manifest and its authenticating fine. (I developed my own version of Destiny Item Manager) Which was setup using my steam originally. Idk if that matters or is setup to authenticate the same but food for thought. Im at a loss here.

TuxyDohにより編集済み: 8/13/2025 4:36:27 PMHere is the issue in a nutshell as I see it. Your account from Steam was hacked. Steam deleted the account in line with their TOS You created a NEW account with Steam using the same email/user name as the lost account You are now trying to reactivate cross save. Is this correct? Edit: just saw the 2nd reply. When you login to Bungie.net using your Steam credentials is the bungie info the same?

Judging by their screenshots, the Steam is far left - which normally means its the currently signed in account but its not getting the automatic authentication like its supposed to. None of the accounts are getting it.

Wrong. My account was hacked but was returned to me without a problem, This has NOTHING to do with that. This is NOT a new Steam account. This is NOT a different Bungie account. That issue is 100% irrelevant. Has nothing to do with this. I am able to login to steam just fine, play Destiny just fine. Zero issue with my Steam account.

Yes, I am logging into Bungie.net using my Original and ONLY steam account that has been associated to my Bungie/Destiny account for years. I am clicking authenticate, and then logging in using the SAME Steam account associated to my Bungie Account. The same exact steam that I use to play Destiny every day. I can see why your mentioning this but im not an idiot. Of course I know you cant use a different steam account when authenticating, I know you cant unlink or use different accounts of any sort. Same Steam account, Same Bungie account, same everything since the day I started playing Destiny 2.

To be clear, right now are you signed into Bungie.net using your Steam auth or did you sign in using PSN? And I am sure with your tech experience you understand that sometimes we have to ask very basic questions to rule out some things that may appear obvious but can be easily overlooked.

Ok let me go over the exact steps I am taking. 1. Navigate to Bungie.net 2. Sign in to Bungie.net using my ONLY Steam account 3. Navigate to Cross Save 4. Click Authenticate under Steam 5. Login using my ONLY steam account. The same account I signed into Bungie with 6. Enter my 2factor Auth code 7. Then hit "Sign in" as seen in the pictures provided 8. Get the Error I have only one steam account. Yes it was hacked but has since been resolved. It was my first thought as to why it wasn't working, which is another reason I contacted Steam. Steam has verified after weeks of research that they have nothing to do with this issue. I provided them recorded logs from the inspect element as well. Just so they could confirm the Auth Token for me.

I appreciate it thank you. All I want is to play my Steam Characters on my Xbox account that is already linked to my Bungie account. I do NOT want to Unlink anything as I know that you can't do that anymore, which is 100% fine with me. I also understand that my silver, DLCs, etc would not transfer.
