Hey everyone….. look at your monitor refresh rate….
Guys… I have been having a horrible time with this issue… and I have FOUND MY FIX. Really hoping that it also works for all of you as well….
My computers default refresh rate was set to 60. I set it to the highest my monitor had (144) and my game looks better than ever
Go to settings, system, display, ——> under related settings choose advanced display ——->select the correct monitor—— choose a refresh rate
Since eof, your os default refresh rate now dictates the hertz of windowed games…. Whereas before exclusive fullscreen dictated it …. The great mystery

It Is NOT a hz issues for most, If It was for you then you don't have the frame pacing issues that emerged which is great I'm happy for you. I've gone through 8 computers now for testing purposes ( I build them ) and all of them as shows the frame pacing stutters ( 1% lows jumping constantly ) with the steam overlay enabled It's easily visible In the graph. I've gone through every possible "fix" that exists now including reinstalling windows with a USB / DDU'ing drivers / excluding the game In defender and disabling all security for testing purposes besides just multiple different machines ( which are brand new ). The issue you mentioned I haven't had on any system, hz has never changed doing the edge of fate release nor after any windows update. Though I'm happy you were able to solve your issue, game Is borderline unplayable for a lot. It's a literal hitching / stutter fest.

I have a question for you, does the frame drop reflect in your frame counter/fps display? For me it never has , the frame counter has always looked like it’s displaying the right frames (130-170) but it was the stuttery choppy gameplay that was ruining it

If you enable the steam overlay and then enable the performance graph with everything and look in the fps section, you can see your average fps / your 1% lows / your highest recorded fps hit. The graph next to It shows the lowest fps ever hit at the bottom. Stutters / hitches choppy frames you'll be able to see there In the graph. You won't notice "stutter" If you're just looking at your average fps number, enabled the steam overlay with the performance graph with everything.

The Issue Is more visible for people with higher fps / hz monitors, I'm sitting at 157 fps ( capped ) and my 1% lows a bounching between 30 and 60 constantly even In orbit where nothing is happening. Even with uncapped fps ( where I hit 2000 fps sometimes In 2k ) my 1% lows are still hovering between 30 and 60 with a constant fluctuation. Not even Smooth Motion changes anything when forced on In the game. Destiny Is the only game with this issue atm, It's also one of the most upvoted Issues In the past week on the forums here If you go further back In "PC Support". It just makes me wanna go play something else, It's quite literally hurting my eyes when It happens doing turning. I can hop on my 3090 setup where I can a lot less fps and I'll have a hard time noticing It because It's just running lower, the setup I'm on right now Is running a 5080, not even my gsync monitors with a range of 1-165 can save these stutters.

elitephysique90により編集済み: 8/14/2025 11:20:10 AMI think I been doing fps issue stolen valor this whole time in the pc help forums because after correcting my settings I really didn’t notice any frame skips:… I been thinking about this and I think you guys are experiencing an issue that I don’t have, and didn’t know existed. Maybe frame skips and completely constant choppy gameplay are different things I totally support the idea that Bungie should fix the window mode or change it back, regardless there’s many layers of problems it’s caused

Exactly, the stutter issues are most prominent if you have a high end rig (4080 and above) and high framerates (at least 120fps) And @elite Thanks for your advice, but I ran my monitor refresh rate always at max even in windows. So in my case it's 240 Hz. And this has nothing to do with those stutters. IMHO if Bungie would switch to DX12 and implement a proper working borderless fullscreen mode, we all would be happy. But that's just me. As you DX12 has not exclusive fullscreen whatsoever. ;)

I don’t think my setup is fast enough for me to notice these issues…. My issue was literally my own ignorance of not knowing about the hertz/refresh rate in my os. Best of luck finding a fix. If your frames are dropping to 60 this isn’t an issue I have experienced, my frame counter never dropped it was just consistently choppy gameplay. Your issue seems to be that it looks ok and then drops, mine just never looked ok but was consistent and steady

My frame counter isn't dropping either, It's the 1% lows fluctuating causing the stutter. Again, just looking at your fps number says nothing. Also, you 1% lows can't "never drop" that's the whole point of 1% lows. You can have a fair and stable 1% low but It's impossible for It to never drop. 1% lows Isn't your "average fps" that you see when you just enable fps counters. Though at this point It's probably better you don't look and just play with what you have If you don't notice anything.

Hey dude, tried your approach, my 144Hz screen wasn't properly configured in the windows parameters section you mentionned. The result wasn't my fps coming back to their original state but atleast it is somewhat more fluid than it was since EoF so thank you. Now I just hope they'll improve the graphical performances they butchered because currently everything on my end is onminimal settings and my 1080 is only at 15% of its capacity where I could easily bring it to 90% before and still having 120 clean fps
