There are so many weapons in these playlists now that simply retiring them is not enough. Like the comp playlist, or Into the Light of Right of the Nine weapons, why can't we just attune and farm for said weapon?
Waiting weeks or even months for a specific weapon, let alone a weapon that has been retired for the season, is just outdated. Let the player choose what they want to farm for please

I think a happy medium would be let you atune only twice in one week for a max of two weapons - ANY weapon: current season or past. So you can atune for say a certain handcannon twice, or maybe you want a a handcannon and shotgun. But you only get 2 drops. This would keep you playing for that week in the event that the current-featured Trials or Nightfall weapon that week is something you DONT want. Think about it - if you don’t want the current weapon, you probably won’t farm it. So that means zero play that week in those playlists. Having at least 2 atunement drops would keep you engaged. And if you do a Grandmaster or go to the Lighthouse (depending on streak) you should get Adepts of those atunements.
...let alone a weapon that has been retired for the season...
This right here is on the money. I have a quick solution that alleviates this specifically. IF power creep is so dominant, then old NF weapons shouldn't cost 3 Engrams to focus. They're sorely powercrept. So why does it matter if I want an old weapon that's going to be niche & less viable? Reduce their focusing cost to just 1 Engram.
