Again, we will never get a Taken Subclass. Chances are, if Bungie gives us a Subclass, it will be a power that we haven’t seen before, or is entirely and completely unclear into what it is if it’s revealed early (like how Stasis was unclear when we saw Eris get it back in Shadowkeep.)
This means no taken power, no resonance power, and no Nightmare power.

You saying it’s never happening isn’t any less speculation than me saying it might happen.. and I’m not saying like full on Oryx black and white taken, but something similar to it. Oryx learned it from the Deep it’s literally a power of the darkness, why wouldn’t it at least have something to do with the final darkness subclass? I was just making the connection between the new taken and this new planet, they might not even connect but it’s just speculation, you don’t have to go around putting others down for having theories

When did I ever put you down. When did I ever insult you. I was clarifying something based on every single piece of evidence we have gotten. Stasis was easy to predict because we had a fire subclass. Following the convention though, we thought we may end up getting a poison subclass. This theory was squashed when our Green subclass turned out to be Strand, Bungie having specifically said they wanted to surprise the playerbase with something we were not expecting. Furthermore, leaks of the red subclass have proven to be entirely and completely false, suggesting that while SOMETHING might have been in the works, it was quickly scrapped. Lastly, I want to point out a couple of things that are already in the game. First up, we already have 3 major Taken Weapons, being Malphesance, Wither Hoard, and Touch of Malice. Much like how we have poison weapons in the form of Thorn, Necrotic Grips, and Osteo Striga. As with the whole Poison to Strand relationship, it’s much more likely that Bungie would prefer keeping the Taken Weapons as Kinetic Slot as opposed to creating a new element that absorbs the Taken Weapons classification, and reduce the number of Kinetic Exotics we have. In other words, based on previous set notions, being that Bungie does not like changing Weapon Elements around a whole ton, and that Bungie prefers giving us a power we have not seen nor technically do not have (Lore Implications already suggest that we have Taken Power as apart of our power set, albeit it’s not an actively used subclass in game). It’s a matter of logic. Theorizing without realistically thinking about the possibilities and likelihood of certain outcomes is bordering on conjecture. My statement that we will never get a Taken Subclass holds weight due to previous examples.

Your points are 100% valid and true, I didn’t mean that we are getting a full “taken subclass” but rather a subclass using similar concepts and on a more lorical level our aptitude with taken power after Heresy may help us gain said new ability, that or we use taken and turn it into something else, using it to create subclass six rather than it being subclass six. When I said “taken subclass” I was putting it in layman’s terms so I wouldn’t have to over explain my idea. Sorry for the misunderstanding

From how I understand it: Malfeasance and Witherhoard are not Weapons of Sorrow (WoS). They were built by the Drifter using Taken energy sources, but were not crafted by guardians using Hive Magic - thus not being a WoS. (Whisper of the Worm is not a WoS either) WoS include Necrocasm, Touch of Malice, Thorn, and Osteo Striga.
-
I understand that Witherhoard and Malph are not Weapons of Sorrow, Malph being a failed WoS. The reason I include them though is because of the VERY clear Taken Aesthetic, Theme, and Function. ToM is the only WoS that is also Taken Themed, but we see it interact with the Poison Functionality from Necrotics like how Necrocasm does, being that the Blight Shot and Explosions respectively spread poison.
-
That makes sense - from what I see, the Taken type weapons and WoS are pretty intertwined. With the taken themed weapons: 1) damage over time (DoT) - Malfeasance’ penetrating/exploding shots, Witherhoard’s nature 2) area of affect (AoE) - ToM’ blight shot spreading poison with Necrotic grips 3) Some do more damage to Taken enemies. Of course Malfeasance. And when Witherhoard’s Pool/ToM’ Blight hits a target - Wishender, Malfeasance, Necrocasm, and all the WoS deal extra damage to that enemy while the pool or blight is on them. If we had a Taken subclass - it would possibly increase some of those effects above and make it extremely hard to balance. Or, it would not affect weapons much, and instead bring new abilities to the table. Or utilities, that have some good supers, aspects and fragments. I’m in the camp where I don’t think it’s highly probable we would get a Taken subclass, but I wouldn’t complain - as long as we got the true Taken armor FX

Personally, I think a Taken Subclass is creatively bankrupt. I much prefer having these “Micro” powers like the Poison and Taken weapon and armor features that add onto and augment you’re respective subclass as opposed to creating a whole new subclass based entirely on this one theme. It’s especially true if this theme has an already developed relationship and role within the game, limiting what the developers can do with the subclass. Stasis and Strand had no precedent within the game and by extension, gave Bungie full creative liberty when developing them.
