There is more to do than just kill shriekers. You have to kill dread, pickup dropped knowledge, and bank it multiple times in the “pool”. Then the door opens & you activate pedestal area.

I did the shrieker and the plate while playing with other people but it still doesn't progress. When I went back to try to do it on my own the dread doesn't drop anything to collect an shrieked doesn't show up.

did you put the code into the disc wall at the the start of the dungeon ?. Witness - give (bloody hands) - Darkness. You should get a message in the bottom left of your screen saying the pyramid has shifted. This will activate the event again, collect the items, stand on the plate to open the room behind the plate. inside is the intel you require to complete that part of the quest step.
