Think about what you said "help players understand mechanics" the mechanics were so minor and didn't need a fire team learn them or complete the level. They were added to familiarize the solo community at what they might encounter within raids so they had some understanding and didn't need to go to youtube to learn, which was another complaint.
Think about what you just said.
They put it in a story mission, the absolute worst place to do this.
Doesn’t matter how good the idea is; when you poorly implement it, it fails.
So it makes sense that some people complained. Why would they like it?
Ignoring implantation for ‘well they did it’ is overly reductive and simplistic.
Then saying it’s the same people is just silly. As if there aren’t people who want nothing to do with raids and people who do but want an easier mode to learn.
You’re acting like there aren’t those two groups when anyone with eyeballs on the forums can see that there is.
The only answer is an easier raid mode. But that’s work and they don’t wanna do it.
Doesn’t matter raid mechanics in a story clearly is a put off. As I stated already, people try the raids and they expect the mechanics there, not in the middle of a story.
A player plays the campaign to shoot stuff and see how a story ends. Not to be interrupted about a mechanic they may or may not have to look up which then takes said player out of the game.

Then every campaign has had raid mechanics.
What raid mechanic was in final shape campaign that didn't involve shooting stuff?
