100% this.
To hell with skewed rng, forced replaying of certain activities to get rolls that never drop. To hell with this nonsense that crafting makes the game grind redundant/its a looter shooter! I grind to get the red bars for that season, thats loot that prevents shockingly poor rng.
Crafting, as a means to make up for bad RNG because the perk pool is too big and the perks/perk combinations mostly SUCK; is a band-aid!
Frankly I would rather they fix the problem by cleaning up the perk pool. Remove all the worthless perks to a manageable quantity. Then make the limited number of perks all viable in any combination. the removal of useless perks will increase the drop chance of the perk combination you want by limiting the total possible combinations available. Instead of 60 or 100 possible combinations there would be 30. Way better odds.
You may not get the best roll your first drop, but what you do get will be something that can be used and is viable in most content. Not the best but OK. leaving players to feel like the rewards that do drop are worth the chase even if you do not get the best drop.
Crafting is patch and does not address the core issue, too many useless perks and perk combinations.
Gotta disagree with you there Bud. Ten years of trying and failing to get the rolls I want mean I’d rather do the red border thing than bang my head against the wall for another ten years.
If crafting has been removed then I’m done with the pointless unrewarding grind
