This probably sounds silly, but in my personal opinion, the game just doesn't feel like it used to, particularly the pre-Beyond Light era, before the game was stripped of half of its content. I know people have varying opinions on this, but I really feel like that was when the downward slope began. There have been things they've added and changes they've made that have been good, but not enough to compensate for the bad.
Bungie said they wouldn't be vaulting any more non-seasonal content (but then again, Bungie says a lot of things). What if the game gets too bloated again? Will we lose even more? And as for what we've already lost, will we ever get it back in full?
I just want to make it clear that I still like the game, but I don't like what Bungie's doing with it, and I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way.

community in a nutshell: Next dlc will be better. next dlc hits and this is what bungie have done with it, they bring back old content, rename it,reskinn it and call it new and unique. So what we do every dlc is that we pay for stuff we have payed for before. I call it lazy programming and zero imagination

2 通の返信The game will get bloated again. More stuff will go. Maybe they will find a way to just have optional downloads for certain content so it doesn’t have to take up space. I know nothing about this and it’s probably impossible, but who knows? I’d like to see an experiment where PvE and PvP are separated into their own games. Some crossover triumphs. People who want both can download both. Those who only want one or the other, download that part of the game. This would give a lot more flexibility for the creators to develop each part of the game without negatively impacting the other.

Senにより編集済み: 10/21/2024 5:21:23 PMThe game lost it's charm for me when they took away the ability to over level so that we could be forced to be underleveled and THAT made the game "difficult". And by difficult I mean tedious and annoying. Most games allow you to overlevel and if you put in the work to do so, you could beat harder activities as if they were normal activities. They'd rather force us to be underleveled rather than actually putting in engaging mechanics that have us pay attention to multiple things at once or have us coordinate more than ever in endgame. For example, the stuff I used for raids before allowed us to one phase the bosses. Now? We get closer to enrage if I use the same stuff. Why? Why is it so artificial? I just hope the Solo Ops has dungeon level mechanics that can be done solo but FASTER if we have the option to bring in others or matchmaking (I think they said we could in the article). I feel having dungeon level mechanics without a darkness zone and a timer and have them be shorter than dungeons in general would be a good replacement for the strike playlist for a lot of players if they follow through with this. And they HAVE to do it while allowing us to to overlevel the higher difficulties.

I can’t bring myself to play for more than an hour. Even if I try and force myself to use new builds, weapons, try new “content” (if that’s what you can call this trash), but nothing satisfies me. And that might not be Bungie’s fault, this game is old. Games get stale. They can’t just keep trying to put lipstick on the pig forever. I’ve gone down to just 3-4 hours a week now, I’ll probably be down to 1-2 by the end of the year.

I think part of the charm was the lack of predictability. There could be cool secrets like Whisper, the Dreaming City curse, and other surprises. Nowadays, things are highly formulaic, and while I appreciate the little twists and turns here and there, we rarely have moments that genuinely surprise me and are as impactful as those. Now, I don’t think that’s inherently bad, as I more or less know what I’m getting and the overall quality of content we have received has been fairly consistent (say what you will about how good or bad it is but it has been consistent). But part of the magic was definitely those moments where they “overdelivered.”
This probably sounds silly, but in my personal opinion, the game just doesn't feel like it used to, particularly the pre-Beyond Light era, before the game was stripped of half of its content.
Bingo, in a nutshell! It just doesn't have an identity anymore. The Red War storyline may not have won any prizes but it was consistent, cohesive and it gave the player a sense of purpose. Much better than the current 'do stuff because' approach. Removing all the content was a dumb approach too - why should the players pay the price for Bungie's incompetent inability to optimise their -blam!- properly? NOBODY removes fixed content anymore (except maybe in WoW, but that's because WoW players are quite used to being kicked in the nuts and told they're being tickled). So I wouldn't worry about any more content being removed - there's nothing new coming to replace it, so I'd be more concerned that the game is going to be around long enough for you to play what's still left...

1 返信I won’t drop another dollar into this game. I love destiny but it isn’t a fun game like it used to be to be. It was my main hobby for a long time. I can remember enjoying patrolling for hrs on end but now it’s worthless. They took out planetary material farming. They took out rewarding rewards from public events. They took out bounties. They took away everything that gave solo players something to do. Made raids over complicated for no reason, like I don’t mind a minor mechanic but who wants to do all that extra stuff? We play to kill enemies not solve puzzles.

At this time, Bungie had several projects in development, couldn't afford to maintain the size of Destiny 2, and was ready to "sacrifice" it. The irony on here is, that Destiny 2 is practically all of what's left from that time (disregarding Destiny: Rising and Marathon). "And, more than anything else, being a service is about being fast. For a Life Service, more than anything more important - even than quality - a Life Service, is about being fast." - Justin Truman, Destiny 2 General Manager, at 13:59. From Box Products to Live Service: How 'Destiny 2' Transformed Bungie But this mindset didn't work: nothing is more important than quality. I didn't like the Destiny Content Vault, an instrument, following the Disney Vault, one bit. It was one of their worst decisions, and it separated the player base, together with Sunsetting and other measures to maintain Destiny 2. In the end, it's their property, but morally - it was a confession of failure. I bought, with anticipation, The Final Shape + Annual Pass on Steam. I left a positive review on it, and now I just do what's absolutely necessary. Just to be fair, the game helped me through difficult times after I had a life-threatening injury - and I'm thankful for that, but I also paid for everything since the beginning. If I had to describe Bungie with one word, I would call them reckless.

If you are referring to D1, then yes. D1 had challenging content that didn't require cheesy add-ons like Champions or anything. Orbs of Light actually gave you your super back, the Weapon Perks, like 3rd-Eye and such we're practical and fun! Sadly, D2 took all the fun away in favor of mantling.

Although beyond light did bring some much needed refreshment with stasis etc, it was also the point (for me) that destiny ceased being what it was, and started being what it is. Going free to play on steam also had a dramatic shift. On blizzards platform the game ran sooo smoothly and I never ran into cheaters. The gun play was fabulous. I.dont know what they did with beyond light but since then the game has progressively ran badly (I am using an aging PC however). Cross play also had an affect.

18 通の返信For the too bloated part, apparently they don't know that optimization is a thing or refuse to do it because it's too much work for them when it's beneficial in the long run Overall, destiny is stuck as borderlands wannabe because they don't want to put a bit of extra effort to make people stay and rely too much on grind as "content" so I don't see any motivation to play destiny over a sea of games available

There’s like 3 activities I can do by myself when I get home from work and they are Quite dull too, I do my pinnacle for nightfalls, I do my gambit pathfinder pinnacle and I also do my 50 waves of onslaught and after that I either finish up some quests or check if I need catalysts and that’s me for the week…. On the odd occasion I might have some clan mates on that wanna do something like a dungeon but that’s extremely rare and I don’t want to use fireteam finder because I feel like I’m underpowered for the most part and I can’t contribute to a team for example Grandmasters, I won’t do them because I feel like I let my team down if I die in a no respawn zone or I’m the last alive and I fail … there’s just too much pressure not to fail in high level activities so I just avoid them…go ahead say skill issue…it probably is

10 通の返信
the game just doesn't feel like it used to, particularly the pre-Beyond Light era, before the game was stripped of half of its content.
That's because it's vastly different than it was during Shadowkeep. Personally, I much prefer how it is now compared to then, & I'd put year 1 & Forsaken ahead of Shadowkeep as well, in that order.

Nah it doesn’t sound silly, that a game you’ve played for 7 years, has lost some of its charm. I personally feel the game is light years better than it was 7 years ago. Content vaulting isn’t an issue for me either seeing I don’t want an absurdly bloated and large game.

3 通の返信If it’s an optional download for old campaigns then sure whatever. But if everyone would be forced to download them then hell no. I’m not using 300 GB of my hard drive so casuals can play Red War and Forsaken for the 100th time.

I recently took a 3 month break from destiny and once you play something else you realize how fun and amazing this game is the movement feels better than any other game i’ve played and it brings back that charm
