It’s still in development, to my knowledge pvp IS planned for the game.
keep in mind valorant has had half the time to accumulate players as destiny and has already reached esports levels because ppl really do cling that hard to a good pvp fps.
absolutely no idea about pricing right now.

it’s not being marketed/hired for based on being pvp though, they just mentioned it a few times. it’s not strictly pvp. believe this is the first glimpse of pvp in an mmo we’ve gotten since a war frame that doesn’t ever find games launched. unless TFD has it.

I guess there's people out there clamoring for yet another MMO. They all have their things they have to do though. And almost every Destiny Killer that comes out eventually runs into reality after the initial honeymoon phase.

A_moにより編集済み: 8/9/2024 2:31:02 PMDestiny has weathered a lot of changes in the industry and that just seems to be what's happening now. Even when you read articles with other developers it seems like no one is really sure which way the industry is headed. For all we know in a few years everyone could be trying to put out extraction shooters. PvP's supposedly have a limited audience even though the top steam game has more players than the next few games that come after it combined. When they're attached to these games that have to be huge and keep growing in order to sustain themselves they just end up being more for a certain kind of customer. So if whatever that new MMO is is really supposed to be massive I wouldn't hold my breath as far as the PvP is concerned.
-
i think it depends how massive we’re talking, SONY has the resources to blow into a game and make a mmo fps with esports pvp in a looter shooter, now do i really think that’s something that can be attained, i’m not sure maybe i should get into game design. but i would play tf out of it.

The only thing about having an mmo combined with what would actually be an esports pvp is that in mmos everyone is always in everyone else's business. Like with destiny it could just get ridiculous at times trying to combine rpg people and pvp people. It's also quite interesting but it could have ended up shedding players from both especially since there were no clear lines drawn. The good thing is that starting over with some clearer lines drawn and boundaries defined could possibly work. Destiny has also really been a PvE game for basically all of its lifetime. PvP is part of the "ritual loop" which if you're a PvP player kind of feels like an eye poke when people say that.

honestly, the one tidbit of good feedback i get from immensely confused new light players is that they can take a gun they just earned from killing a boss and then go shoot real people(pause)with it. which maybe was what got me into way back when, it definitely has a unique allure that you can’t replicate with any other kind of setup, you definitely need both pve and pvp elements in the same game to replicate that. idk i’ve always been highly competitive in video games and being able to have 2 separate elements to perfect really adds levels to stuff too. Like being able to have speed run times in raids and go flawless every weekend scratches 2 totally separate itches in the same video game for me.
-
Yeah thats the thing about the "massive" part. Most people aren't exactly highly competitive but they want the game to treat them like they are or they'll leave. So then you end up with sometimes dubious definitions of what it means to be competitive in order to satisfy a massive number of not that actually competitive people.

Ryiszにより編集済み: 8/9/2024 3:06:11 PMwell right, idk i feel like for actual hardcore players it’s pretty well defined and they know regardless of what someone tries to explain. Even things like Raid Report and Trials Report, half the people that play this game don’t even know there’s tags on those websites or that they exist at all. There’s people that try to act competitive with significantly less experience in this game than me and even i know i’m still nowhere near being the Aegis/Wallahs of the world. side note all of my someday drips came from farming the pale heart stuff, mostly the overthrow events tbh. and you get one free one a week by buying it. i still HIGHLY recommend imperial decree or conditional though, wasn’t kidding about the gun being broke, i have 3,000 pvp hours and can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that gun has a hit registration problem.
-
A_moにより編集済み: 8/9/2024 3:20:50 PMYeah the hit registration randomness on some weapons can be a deal breaker for me. I try to have as little of that as possible or at least "randomness" that lets you know what the game is doing. Sometimes its like trying to decipher hieroglyphics. As far as things being well defined its not the people that understand the definitions that are always the problem, its more that there can be more of the other type of person and this game has leaned towards "majority rules" a lot of the time in its past. So for me one of the problems is that the game has this thing where there's both too much of a certain type of player that might be able to understand things, but also not enough. And so it makes it so there appears to be even less of that type of player using artificial means. And the big problem with that is that's when the grifters and shysters that will do anything up to and including cheating to get into that group start to run rampant. You can look through a lot of peoples' history that are good at PvP and see that the way they got the experience they got isn't really all that honorable and now some of them will be where they are just kind of doing the thing where their outcome describes how holy and pure they are and how "hard" they supposedly worked to get there. There's a lot of that going around these days and it being in the games too is more than just a little coincidence imho.
