Destiny killed for players who can’t/don’t use a mic!
I can’t use a microphone due to my disability and speech problems. I am housebound, and Destiny has been a great way to keep my mind active and stave off mental health issues. However, I can no longer justify the £80 DLC spend.
I accepted years ago that raid content, often the best content in the game, was mostly beyond my grasp. But with the latest expansion, even more exotics and a core part of the new Prismatic subclass, exotic class items, are out of my reach.
I’m a decent player who solos all the dungeons, a Conqueror x10, but no amount of skill or money can keep me up with the game's direction. If I had known that so much depended on an ability I do not possess, I would not have bought the expansion – but I suspect that’s why none of this was disclosed in the pre-launch advertising.
According to some reports, 72% of D2 players have not done a raid. This is not mainly due to the difficulty of the mechanics but rather the aforementioned use of a microphone. While the hope might be that more people get comfortable using comms, I fear it will have the opposite effect and significantly reduce the player base.

1 返信Exactly this, well said I think ALL solo players should consider voting with our playime (not playing) and wallets. They hyped this class item up in the marketing videos BUT said nothing about this requirement.

4 通の返信Everyone in here being an A$$ is the exact reason why the point is valid. You're all the people in the game we DON'T want to play with but may be matched with and treated like this in game. I've never seen such lack of self awareness.

My group has taught one person who is mute before, it's not hard, as long as you can hear us and try your best to learn, it's all good, there are really kind people out there that will help teach you the raids that you can be taught, some are more difficult.

5 通の返信Look I’m sorry for your disability but this is an MMO style game where there will inevitably be activities that require communication that you might not be able to provide, just because there are activities that can be solo’d or completed with minimal to no communication does not mean every activity must be held to that standard. If that’s not something you can deal with you might need to find a game that fits your individual circumstances better, bungie while trying to be inclusive has never claimed Destiny to be the fully soloable/ no communication MMO that some people seem to think it is and shouldn’t be slandered when those people make the realization it isn’t

1 返信Exactly....they had no intentions of stating start with 3 people, kick one out of the group and continue with 2. What kind of asinine idea was that? Whoever came up with this needs to be fired. In all of thier stupid ideas over 10 years, this has to be the #1. And yes I had cancer i throat years ago and while i can speak, its difficult and not easy to be clear in the few seconds needed to do this. Check the new lost sectors and run on 2020....you'll see they think they are Elden Ring but end up just pushing players right to another game. The fun has been taken out and content made to piss people off and make it miserable to extend play time when in reality they are going to be hit with a massive player drop in a couple of weeks. All i can hope is Sony comes in and FIRES every single one of the people that thought all this -blam!- up.

How do you know 72% has never done a raid due to not having a microphone? Eitherway, if you DONT have a mic in 2024, I am sorry, but thats just not acceptable. Yes, A mic is 100% required for Salvation's Edge. Everyone needs to contribute the seconth, third, and fourth encounter cause people aint gonna carry you this raid. Especially on the fourth where communications is a must, and sorry, I am not waiting for a console player to take out his 'console keyboard' and very slowly type 'middle needs square' when you have a time limit on your hands. And no, this is not discriminating. People saying class exotic 'advertised'. Yeah, where was it advertised for a solo? Destiny has had MANY exotics in its lifespan on events that you cant do solo. This isnt new.

17 通の返信The amount of trolls on these posts is ridiculous. I hope they realise its against bungies terms and conditions as you are discriminating against disabilities. Mental health is a disability whether you like it or not. A lot of these people are unhappy about being mislead about the class item. We get raid exotics are locked behind raids. I've done a couple but never got one. But the class item was advertised and was never explicitly stated this is locked behind a 2 player activity. I like others don't mind jumping into nightfall that are matchmade, as I don't have to speak. And I can do other things but it takes a lot to get on mic and have to psych myself up.

3 通の返信There is always text chat, but for console players it really isnt good a option (makes the last clock puzzle impossible because howlong it takes to type). But the controller on ps5 has a build in mic, it sounds lime -blam!- but its something(no idea for xbox). So there is almost no excuse.

The only raid that is hard for beginners in my opinion is the new one for obvious reasons and last wish legit.

Simply pick and find your fun that’s why we have video GAMES not video game…

8 通の返信You’re in a clan with 76 other people, surely there’s one you can run the class item mission with and or 5 that will raid with you. I understand the complexity of not being able to use a mic but don’t you dare bad mouth this game when you’re rocking a clan with that many players. If they won’t play with you the issue isn’t the game. It’s the people you’re in a clan with.

7 通の返信I have not done a raid in d2 for a number of reasons. 1. Elitism 2. In both D1 and d2 I have just not found them to be fun. I don't think having 6 players jump at the same time and all those other lame raid mechanics are fun. 3. I just want to shoot things and get loot 4. I played lots of mmos back in the day, those were raids. These things they call raids are just annoying. And the fact that they refuse to add matchmaking to them, even with the lfg it's just manual matchmaking. I won't do a raid.
