Destiny 2 and 1 would of been better without any classes but just as a melting pot of interchangeable abilities all in one character
Allowing anyone to use whatever they want and mix and match no matter what they play
You don’t like warlock jump but wanna have a well go for it
You wanna use osmiomancys but your a titan go for it
Apart from getting rid class divisions, unbalanced things exclusive to one class(helping balance the game better) and adding more customisability to each persons individual build and character
this would also allow armour sets to become more interesting as 3 sets for each class wouldn’t have to be made and more better looking unique and separate sets could be worked on

I personally think if they went with that it wouldn't work out in the end, player characters would look too similar or armor would still just fit into the 3 classes identities anyway so you'd be cutting down 3 character slots to 1 just for the sake of it. It also means you'd always pick the best stuff at all times and you wouldn't be limited based on your class so there would be no benefit to team composition based on strengths and weaknesses unless they are baked into the abilities.
