Hear me out cause obviously lots of people love there crayon with a barrel attachment and won't agree immediately.
I think shotguns have been top of special for far to long kind of like handcannons with primarys and bungies twab this week shows numbers to prove it.
So my idea, dial shottys down without touching any other weapons, I think the nerf to special weapons as a hole ( making them all spawn with the equivalent on 1 ammo ) was a step in the wrong direction as its negatively impacted things like trace rifles and snipers.
these nerfs should have been solely on shottys them selfs as they are the outlying special weapon in the crusible Playlist.
#1 so my first idea is simple keep shottys at 1 ammo, bring everything back to normal except for some options ( slugs, fusions ) as they would quickly climb to the top spot and see how it plays out with shottys being ammo limited.
Now my next idea is controversial and I'm not expecting any anybody to agree but it's my personal take on how I would balance shottys.
#2 First I would make everything back to 2 ammo including shottys, second I would make shottys no longer one shot at 7-8 meters ( or whatever it is ) and instead one shot at 2-3 or 3-4 meters, outside of these range values shotguns would do 120 - 180 damage depending on frame ( rapid fire, lightweight, precision, aggressive)
this would leave room for shotgun melee to be unaffected on any shotty while making them more of a close range option or a clean-up weapon in primary gun fights ( peppering your opponent with damage to get an easy kill )
This would leave more opportunities for snipers slugs and fusions to secure kills in situations they would more then likely die ( small lanes, corners, zones )
It would put shot guns in the same type of position handcannons have been put in, making them take more setup and thinking rather then run in and shoot.
I think it's time for shotguns to take a rest and let other weapons in the spot light, remember when people used snipers like it was montages we need that back.

Precision and conditional finality need a nerf to range. Or buff other shotguns, but then again, since the change to hitbox, special ammo, and the constant nerfs to sniper rifles while shotguns are left untouch. Good luck since most of these players clinch to their shotguns and say it's fine and that the population numbers shouldn't matter. Yet when a gun that isn't their favorite, they scream high hell for it to be nerfed, and they tell everyone to look at the trials numbers.

Usage numbers don’t prove power. Actually usually prove ease of use. Void Titan is by far the best high end PvP class but hunters are the most used class (cloaks and easy to use jump). The data actually shows this too and so did Bungie’s commentary on it. Shotguns are fine but will always be highest usage. When snipers and fusions have had high usage the meta has been awful. In high end PvP, snipers are already very strong.

You do realize that one hitting within that 6-8M range with anything other than a slug is crazily situational right ? Unless you have an absolute godroll in range and have crazy pellet rng your not going to one shot. My found verdict has decent range, and anything outside of 4-5m I don’t trust it to one hit unless I’ve got damage in first, I wouldn’t even dare try it at 6-8M

13 通の返信Shotguns are fine for the most part, it’s the conditional finality crutch that needs to be dealt with, it needs to be like Chaperone and require a head shot to be at top efficiency, as of now the amount of players hiding around corners with CF is hilarious and atrocious at the same time. And the only pushback are the crutch players who are in denial.

A_moにより編集済み: 5/3/2024 8:06:26 PMTbh, if the current approach or the next approach to special ammo doesn't work, they're probably going to have to consider applying one of the three different special dispensing systems to each archetype individually. The weapons are too different to be treated the same as far as the amount of ammo and then adjusted through buffs and nerfs to try to make up for the fact that they're treated the same ammo-wise. Shotguns (and to a lesser extent snipers) just don't have the issues that some other special weapons do outside of "too many people using them" which isn't necessarily a problem to get solved through nerfs and buffs. Like, for instance, fusions should start with no ammo and then either use the bar or you get the ammo out of the boxes like the heavy weapons they actually are. Those things contribute to the player population dwindles because when its "matchmaking for everyone" precisions will be shooting as far as high impacts and high impacts will have the charge time of precisions. So to keep that from happening they shouldn't be as ubiquitous as a shotgun that can be avoided by simply not playing a close range playstyle or a sniper that can get into trouble because its usually a positioning weapon in a game that's largely about staying moving.

3 通の返信The only way to truly nerf shotguns is to give everyone special ammo PERIOD or make kills by the players from primaries not assists or abilities the primary source for special ammo drops. Treat the ammo like supremacy orbs or orbs of light. Trying to control special ammo will never be the solution.
