People are saying shiny because of pokemon. In pokemon there is a really rare color variant of every pokemon in the game(1 in 4096). So they are comparing the special versions of the guns as shiny because they are rare drops, but literally just color changes.

The brave weapons have a chance to drop with a unique ornament that makes the weapon “shiny”. You can only get the shiny ornament as random drops during Into the Light. They will be unavailable when TFS drops. Plus shiny drops with 4 perks instead of 2. So you can enhance all 4 perks and swap freely between them instead of just two.
